For EU a lot of those bots are from russia or former USSR countries, they use listings of stolen credit card numbers, stolen pre-paid time cards, phished Paypal accounts and such, they create accounts -> bot -> move / sell the gold, rinse and repeat. Blizzard isn't really profiting from that...
