I managed to snag a 5800x from newegg at launch. My understanding is that they're sold out pretty much everywhere, but it took longer to sell out.

When you need to update the bios without the CPU, it helps to do that BEFORE YOU PUT THE CPU AND COOLER IN. Once I figured that out things went smoothly and it's working well. This is what I ended up with.

If you watch the whole video, 4x8 brings a 5-10% performance increase in most of their testing. They talked about it with someone else who also saw similar results and had reason to believe that 2x16 might be the "sweet spot" and would need testing. What that exactly means they didn't say.

So at this points it's obvious that 4 quarters of competent football is too much to ask from the Chargers. All I want now is to be disappointed in a novel fashion. Blowing multi touchdown leads is stale at this point. Time to mix it up a little.

Only 3200? I was under the impression that the 5000 series benefitted from faster ram. I was going to wait for people to do tests and see if it was worth buying something 3600 or up.

My current system has some slow 2400 ram that I'll be using until I figure out where the sweet spot is. I doubt I'll be bothering with any overclocking, but I always like to leave the option open.
