I like Hall, but I'm worried that his "zero risks" approach will backfire on him as he faces better competition. He'll end up losing a close but boring decision and then get back-burnered because he has a weird style and seems totally unwilling to participate or generate in hype. He could have...

You're right. The requirements have changed since I last checked, and Nintendo's official account description is awkwardly worded. Here's a clearer take: https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/19/17879064/nintendo-switch-online-digital-games-multiple-consoles "Basically, Nintendo labels the Switch...

Renting is way cheaper than owning where I live. There are a lot of hidden costs of ownership that no one takes into account, never mind that owning is (financially) stupid if you move more often than every ~10 years (yes, depending on market movements, etc, etc). Sure, it's nice to be able to...

Ugh. As a guy with permanently compromised knees this really makes me cringe. People tend to wave off knee damage as "Oh, it's just 4 weeks/6 month recovery" but there comes a point where it impairs almost every aspect of your daily life. I'm only 40 and basically every time I stand up or sit...

    Steam Deals and Digital Sales

Hard to blame Steam on that one. On the Epic store their charge would hit my card but they would instantly refund the amount and then not process the sale. Pretty much a clusterfuck as far as I could tell.

Well, you can't have a pissed off wife. However, making your wife happy at your own expense doesn't work either. The obvious solution is choose a wife where her happiness isn't contingent on burning yours.

Well yeah, if you've said you were going to do something and then don't that's on you. "My wife overloaded the fuck out of me with stuff to do," doesn't imply much previous volunteering, though.

Some is solid wood; I've got two desks I made from Ikea counters and pipe/fittings. Edit: Yours is. If you can see the grain continue from the face to the edges it's 99.9% odds solid. No one will grain match veneer at that price point.

Large sheet goods are sketchy on a table saw unless you have a massive table or have invested in wings/extensions. There's no really safe way to do a shallow crosscut a 8x'4' sheet on a contractor saw that has a 3' table, and even if you get it done it's hard to keep the cut totally straight.

Yes, but I'd say it works better than a <$200 track system, which is what he was after. The cheap ones always flex due to chintzy materials. If it ends up not doing the job you're only out $5 in scrap and 20 min of time.

In 10 years of BJJ I've never seen the "tournament grappler" vs "sub-only grappler" distinction mean anything. The best grappler wins both matches. In recent history, the people who try to draw that line either lose horribly against their first A-class "tournament grappler" or are Gordon Ryan...
