Its a fairly dumb statistic. If you look at most of the previous TI winners they were pretty dominant in the year before winning. Heck, Alliance probably would have won 2-3 majors if they'd existed.

I think its been the drafts, most of the games seem to go to the team that wins the lanes and for some reason they repeatedly draft/run weak lanes. I don't recall whether it was banned, but I wonder if they'd grabbed a dark seer instead of vengeful last, he could have solo'd and beast could...

I think the issue is going to be both Alch & TB want the jungle. If Alch loses his lane then TB had to crush his.

Sad we lose one of Na`Vi or Liquid. I'd cheer for either of those teams over almost everyone else.

I think they were finally confident in their place in the tournament (group stage was mediocre for them) and wanted to try stuff. Given how badly it went I doubt they try techies again. Morphling doesn't feel like a hero, I think teams have won with him but I think its often been despite the hero.

The YouTube stream seems to be working better. Dunno if it is just coincidence. What they're doing in the drafting is god awful. Sometimes no draft, no timer, and kotlguy....

W33 has been pretty hit or miss, he's exceptional on a few heroes but underwhelming on a lot of them. DC's success in the group stage is something no one would have predicted, heck look at their performance at Starladder & Summit.

Wings reminds me a lot of MVP Phoenix, a younger inexperienced team that fights a lot and has their own picks outside the meta. I do wonder whether they will/are running into the same issue that the more experienced captains/teams break down and counter their game.

Who the heck are some of these 'casters', I've never heard of 3-4 of them. Unfortunate they again feel the need to have a non-dota native host.

I think secret is in this weird position where they feel they can't go draft full greed against Na`Vi if they go full CIS so are going strong laning phase heroes which don't go late.

G2 - feels like Secret needed someone to hit buildings.

Interesting, G1 Navi vs Secret, I would have predicted Arteezy Razor and EE Void. I've never seen EE play Razor before, but I remember his carry void being pretty ridiculous at DreamLeague 1.5 years ago. Seems like Arteezy is playing the '1' from the farm perspective most games.

I'd say you've got some bias swaying your opinion. The only effective heroes in G1 were Envy & PieLieDie. Slardar got a few crushes, SS & KotL only stalled the game by pushing lanes when the game was already lost.

The "bullshitting around the map" is called creating pressure and forcing your opponents to react.

Not sure how any of game 1 was on EE. The draft wasn't stellar, kotl wasn't able to make effective use of the farm he was given.

Random speculation - I wonder if they have a similar problems as Secret did when Universe played for them.
