So hyperarmor is determined by what the weapon is? That would imply that you can be naked with an ultra greatsword and a dagger hit won't stagger you during wind-up.

DS1 was the same way. After you get the Lordvessel you unlock deeper New Londo, Lost Izalith, Tomb of the Giants, and Duke's Archives, all of which are super short mini areas.

Except this is completely false. Poise only applies during swing wind-ups. If you have a lot of poise and you use a dagger, then yeah, you'll never see it in action. But if you have a lot of poise and are wielding a big weapon, a longsword hit won't interrupt one of your wind-ups.

Problem I'm having is that she seems to stagger her sword attacks so that rolling through the first one makes you get hit by her second sword before you're even out of your first roll. Hm. They're OP in PvP though because hitting with an R1 means you're going to automatically land the second one...

Poise is not useless in PVP. Ultra Greatswords are so OP that if you can trade with someone, you will probably kill them on the second hit. It's ridiculous.

I like him except for the fact that there is no floor. It's hard enough to perceive depth in video games as is. Taking out the floor basically leaves me guessing as to whether or not I'm in range to hit him with my longsword.

I just use the basic Longsword. The Dark Sword doesn't stab on its R2, which is something I use often.

Poise only applies during attack wind-ups. When you're preparing for a swing of your weapon, you have poise. After a swing or while idle, your poise is effectively zero. (It was the same in Dark Souls II.)
