The only marketing Steam does of a game is through Steam itself. Games still have 50 million dollar marketing budgets for a reason.

It's pretty easy to understand. Steam takes a cut from every sale, it's not a free service. EA gets all the profit when they sell it themselves. Anyone who thought that big publishers were going to use Steam forever was crazy. Anyone who can get away with not using it will stop using it.

Bioshock 2 was made by a completely different studio than Bioshock 1, so I still have quite a lot of faith and benefit of the doubt for the guys making Bioshock Infinite. They had nothing to do with Bioshock 2.

A couple notes on AC4: It's been in development since 2011 by the team that did AC:R and a couple of the other Ubisoft studios are working on it including part of the Far Cry team and Ubisoft Singapore who did the Naval Combat for AC3. The AC3 team is not working on it. Imo it's pretty nice...
