All of my media is local, and there are multiple devices. I've just used Plex for a really long time. For my VHS quality SD content, its been fine. When I tried to play Star Wars at 4k, is the only time I've seen it tell me that it couldn't play it due to no codec.

Well he's partially correct. I tried playing Star Wars last night and it wouldn't play saying it was missing a codec. Will check server settings, but it shouldn't be transcoding when on same network.

If when I start playing the file, plex says it's 4K, but the tv picture options don't let me choose HDR standard, is it still 4K?

Location specific! I had the Zinger $5 box, and it was damn good. This was at a location in Cleveland OH though, so maybe that made a difference? Had plenty of mayo or whatever, nice spice to it, easy to eat. Was fantastic!
