I can't speak for all the jobs, but I have a level 50 BLM and the combat changed and became more interesting as I got to higher level. Firestarter and Thundercloud procs, plus Fire III, Blizzard III, and Flare all make things a lot more fun. Before those skills it was just Fire till oom...
