    Kingdom Come: Deliverance

I might play it, kind of curious to see what type of improvements they made to the core gameplay. It had all the pieces there for high-skill and semi-realistic melee combat, but the impact of the micro you could perform was absolutely overshadowed by the stat differential between you and your...

    Everquest - Live Servers

Yeah there's no plan for bringing that to live servers. I've done my share of boxing raid events and they're mostly annoying in EQ because many of the raid mechanics are either impossible to do in a boxed group or are simply annoying to do. So if you can't just bulldoze through them with higher...

Who do I have to pay for a new Jedi Knight game?

Started playing Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II yesterday. As the thread describes I love the Jedi Knight series, but I also really missed old school shooters with massively agile players and generally ineffective weapons. Modern day shooters of slowly moving from room to room and hunkering down to...

    Everquest - 20th Anniversary TLP

I'd be pretty interested to hear more details about your setup if you were willing to share. Ex: How many VMs you can run on what hardware, how you share commands between them etc.

    Everquest - Live Servers

Probably. A lot of ways more "hardcore" could go. Personally I think it wouldn't be that hard for them to just add 2x or 1.5x damage to players/pets and something along those lines that made the gameplay significantly harder would be the only new server type rules I'd be interested in.

    Everquest - Live Servers

What's the AOC mechanic? But now I haven't heard anything about them instancing static content. The most they've done is add spawn triggers to some old world / kunark bosses that had epic drops (and those bosses would only drop the epic pieces) like Cazic-Thule.

    Kenshi - A Sandbox RPG

I feel like this version of Kenshi has the platform to do this kind of world conquest that Mount and Blade: Warband has, but is missing the supply lines + army generation from conquering towns.

    Kenshi - A Sandbox RPG

Like any sandbox game you get to choose the endgame. Personally I want to explore all the locations, research all the things, build a world-beating squad, destroy the holy nation and build a massive city in the center of the Holy Nation lands.

    Kenshi - A Sandbox RPG

Put this game down a few days after it was released, picked it up again this weekend. Got my guys and base to a pretty comfortable point and definitely feel like I'm in the "mid game". About to buy a falling sun blueprint and see if my guys can effectively wield them. In an effort to enjoy the...

VR Gaming - Oculus Rift, Playstation VR, HTC Vive

VR space combat sims are going to be sweet, but a key problem with VR space sim right now is that so much of the time is spent looking at objects super far from you, so the low angular resolution (Due to massive FOV) of VR headsets make everything look low-detail. I was really disappointed...

    Kenshi - A Sandbox RPG

Good, it really is a gem of a game that I'm hoping gets a lot more traciton both so the devs get properly rewarded (and support the game longterm) and also so similar sandbox style games get made.

    Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Greece)

fwiw as someone who played all the AC games when they were released, the future scenes in AC1 and the three ezio AC games were very engaging and enjoyable. But after you finish the Ezio trilogy, you're kind of done with the future bullshit.

Death of a Game - Everquest franchise

No. EQ is a text-based game with a graphical front-end. Even in 2018 nearly everything in it is text + abilities/spells. The graphics wouldn't add much.

Death of a Game - Everquest franchise

Part of the problem with this is that if you don't force players to group with each other, and instead motivate them (ex: by having separate solo/group progression) then they will just solo and find the thing boring because they're missing the whole point.

    Kenshi - A Sandbox RPG

So, there are fundamentally two different ways to play kenshi: 1. Figure out all the shit for yourself with no outside information. 2. Look up optimal ways to do things, learn from other people and then execute a sensible strategy. Obviously people fall somewhere in between. But Kenshi isn't...

    Kenshi - A Sandbox RPG

This is basically what I do at the start too, just I do it with 5-10 teammates. This makes carrying gear from corpses to vendor much more effective. I do wish that I chose to be a thief at the game start though, because you need those skills later and I think it could've been lucrative in the...

    Kenshi - A Sandbox RPG

One way to start is get a 5-10 man team equipped in basic gear, food and enough fighting ability to take on hungry bandits and those dog creatures. It's not trivial to achieve this.

Death of a Game - Everquest franchise

DBG botched the latest expansion by gating 90% of the content behind some Aristo designed (aka puzzle-combat style) missions. For the last few (since underfoot?) expansions people could come in and just bumble their way through with shitty groups or just them and their merc. Now they're getting...

Death of a Game - Everquest franchise

Here's a good representation of the sprawl. And this kind of sprawl is just repeated for all the game mechanics. It's actually one of the reasons why I love the game so much. There's so much shit layered in the game that the knowledge base is a stratification where few people experienced...

Death of a Game - Everquest franchise

I feel intensely uncomfortable anytime there is a "cutscene" (NPCs spawning and talking to eachother in the real world...) in EQ. Especially with epic quests where you just handed an NPC an item and aren't sure if this dirty ass engine running old oil code is going to misfire and you're going to...

TBH I don't get why they don't reuse zones even more. I don't know if the artists in 2002 were just better staffed or more talented or more in-tune with creating interesting, better playing zones but in the last few expansions I liked the re-used zones better than the new ones. Maybe it really...

Death of a Game - Everquest franchise

EQ will exist in 2021, it's just a question of what form. DBG is pioneering how cheaply they can make these expansions and still retain customers and the answer is extremely cheap.

I boxed a shaman in WoW during WotLK with this. Windows had just come out with a new voice recognition software and I had just watched Ironman. Death of a Game - Everquest franchise

I bet DBG bought 90% of those lifetime subs after purchases trailed off and now are re-releasing it when they found they're numbers are just a tiny smidge less than what they need to hit for some arbitrary end of the year sales figure.

    Autonomous Systems

What you said is one of the principle ways Musk says that he'll make it cheaper (make it smaller and allow the TBM to bore as much as it can instead of waiting around for spoil). The other principle ways is, "Just do it better than the bunch of losers doing it now." The first way makes sense...

But seriously, there is only really one big technical question with the Boring Company and that's how cheap Elon can get boring + tunnel construction. If he can reduce it nearly as much as he says he can, everything else will fall into place.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War (Shadow of Mordor Sequel)

At low/mid levels, focus on the main quests at a time, as in, do them one at a time. I did the one for the tree lady first because that lets me tame drakes or something. At high levels, you get so much XP from everything it doesn't really matter what you do, but conquests give a lot of XP. But...
