I use wifi to send files over FTP almost weekly to my first gen slim PS3 at 2.1mb/s, works fine. If there's a problem with your connections it's probably just your routers or something. Sure, using ethernet boosts it to like 17-18mb/s, but for normal usage wifi is more than acceptable.

One of my favorite 3D games is definitely Killzone 3. That game is pretty fucking gorgeous at times. I liked the 3D in Assassin's Creed for the environments, but sometimes the interface elements would get a bit wonky and I'd turn it off.
