    Fallout 4

I don't even know why they bothered with invisible walls in FONV. I removed them in my playthroughs and explored outside the map a bit and nothing really bad happened. It wasn't like there were a bunch of quest-ending areas you could get to.

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

I'd ask a senior coworker or your boss what the general guidelines are for expensing. Often the general attitude people take does not match the employee handbook, but you should be aware of the big pitfalls. Sometimes an employee will cause a bunch of drama with a certain thing and ruin it for...

I actually liked the different ammo types because that was sort of the answer to the DT problem. You had to keep a collection of AP rounds for a few guns in order to kill the high DT opponents.

    Fallout 4

I remember the giant radscorps being the worst because you encountered them early on. That was a huge part of why hard in fallout was bad. In hard mode they lazily just made mobs into bullet sponges, which was somewhat necessary because it was so easy to simply kite or otherwise attack mobs in a...

    Fallout 4

I also enjoyed the DC area a LOT more than New Vegas. The DC area captured the chaotic, sprawling and ravaged area of a metropolis more than people give it credit for. It's not the well laid out set of quest hubs with coherent direction and polish. It's a big fucking concrete mess of shit.

BTW: I could be completely wrong about this and in a couple months this thread will be full of all of us posting our baller ass FO4 builds that are unique and interesting.

    Fallout 4

It's not even that, it's that making a game difficult in a fun way is very hard and requires a combat system that supports it. Dark Souls is oft lauded but few people recognize that making a game that difficult while still allowing for a lot of player freedom and is still fun is super...

    Fallout 4

The statement I made was a bit sloppy, let me throw it back in the forge and try again. Creating something cool in a game can be fun and engaging if one of the following is true: 1. The combat is both difficult enough such that creativity is needed to win, and fun when it is difficult. 2...

    Fallout 4

Right, but unless they spend a lot of effort that is uncharacteristic for Bethesda, a non-terrible base + a non-terrible village will win the encounters. Ex: In Fallout Shelter you have the exact same dynamic where Deathclaws invade your base. What's the key to winning? Just throw six of your...

    Home Improvement

turns out to work great. Is able to pull a heavy duty 100ft long, 5/8" hose no problem. My only complaint is that the fastest speed is still pretty slow. I have a 60' x 8' strip of lawn that I watered with it with the nozzles pretty much aimed down and the whole thing was a puddle by the time I...

    Fallout 4

Creativity has a lot more value in a multiplayer game though. In MP building an ingenious base is leading your tribe toward victory over the oppressors. In FO4 you're really just going to be playing dollhouse.

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

I don't really understand gravity waves, but if the effects of gravity don't emanate from some body of mass at the speed of light in a way that can be conceived of as waves, how else would they travel? Do people think they travel instantaneously through some interdimensional effect? Or is...

Star Citizen Online - The search for more money

No. If there's no expectation of wealth generation it's not an investment in my opinion. The dudes buying underpriced ships and hoping to sell them after supplies run out, that's an investment. But me paying into SC super early just to help a space sim get funded? That's me giving a down...

GoT - Is Over, Post Your Drogon Sightings

Having a massive white walker vs dragon battle as a cinematic 2 hour affair shown in theatres would be cool, but to be a proper movie you'd need to have a coherent setup which would be annoying. I don't want to see an origin story for 5 different characters I've been watching for 8 years. Now...

Racism - Lets keep it civil. Also, Gravy is white.

72" is not attainable by humans, ~45" is pretty much the softcap. But your point is very true. However there are some strong genetics at play with someone's max vert. I picked it because unlike say, the 40yd dash or benchpress someone in 'good' shape will not improve their vertical leap...

Bridging the gap between professional-knowledge and layman questions of "Can science explain why Samoans are 56 times more likely to be in the NFL than the average population?" is harder than it sounds but it seems like Hodj isn't even making the effort and instead trying to front as much he can...

Sure I get it and agree with you. I just don't know why you keep bringing up minecraft, since Minecraft is not similar to the outpost system. I think it's closer to the tower defense genre.

    Virtual Reality

Yes. Or rather, it's VR sickness. Motion sickness is where you feel motion but your viewpoint doesn't change (because you're reading in a car or something). VR sickness is where your viewpoint changes in a virtual environment but you don't feel motion. There are many (10+) causes of VR...

Mass Effect: Andromeda - Autism reaches outer space

Yep, that's what I figured they'd do too, since they seemed to be going that route with the 'war readiness level' throughout the game that was heavily tied to your choices. It just kind of collapsed at the end into the star child.

I don't really get the comparison to minecraft. Everything is templated nonsense right? Minecraft is voxelized freedom. Is there really much freedom in FO4's outpost system?

I agree 100%. However, the dude who recognizes that his bigotry is due to a given culture is both more correct than a true racial bigot and more able to readjust his opinion and work with members of a race he is generally bigoted toward. There are real bonafide racists that see a given...

Pokemans and how to catch them with your phone - friend codes in OP

I'm assuming everything we know about PGo is from both the trailer and the Pokemon stuff that preceded it. In which case I think that's exactly how it works. My guess is: 1. Large swathes of geographical areas will have a large number (20+) of different spawns. Ex: The southern half of...

    Dark Souls 2

I enjoyed DS a lot more when I turned off the internet and got rid of all those signs. They were funny at first but annoying and immersion destroyers. They also 'spoiled' a lot of the game by describing it.

    Fallout 4

I'm not super excited about the outpost system because it runs counter to the setup of Fallout. In Fallout you play a wanderer who goes from area to area as a generally anonymous dude, and make choices that affect that area before moving on again. The outpost system sets you up as ostensibly...

Pokemans and how to catch them with your phone - friend codes in OP

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Ingress you have to convert local nodes regularly to spread your team's influence on a map, right? So someone spoofing their location would need to continuously do that to be effective. Where as in Pokemon Go, I'm imagining specific locations being central...

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

If I can add to that, I think Furry has been pretty clear about it. He believes in QM, but thinks a lot of physicists overstate the applications or function of QM in many fields, ex: QE and intentionally or unintentionally misrepresent what is happening in QE experiments.
