Nah, the .ini exposes more settings than are available ingame. Here's the diff between ultra and the modified ultra. https://www.diffchecker.com/uV37vNa7/

tried out Starfield Performance Optimization and it appears to be dramatically higher performance, but I didn't do any real benchmarks. It's not a true "mod" in the Bethesda modding sense, so I think it has zero-risk of ruining a savegame.

@Vorph I was kind of expecting it to be like Kenshi where the cost and rarity of gear mods would scale exponentially, until it got to a point where the only viable way to get the best shit was to build it inhouse. I'm kind of surprised that's not the case in Starfield. (Note that I'm only at...

I'd argue that's a reasonable limitation to introduce to players though. There are already resources only suitable for smaller ships (specifically there are two landing pad options in your outpost). If a player shows up with their capital class star destroyer to enter an asteroid inlet, I think...

It's crazy to me that there aren't points of interest for players to explore in their ship that function largely as classic Bethesda dungeons. Everything about the engine seems to support it and it'd be inline with their typical gameplay loops. Anything from exploring the interior of a large...

I gotta imagine most people who mod black people out of their games probably live *very* pointless lives.

If you want to cheat this is what I used There's probably better ways to find it. However, finding the *perfect* outpost location for those three resources isn't as important as it sounds. Moving goods between outposts in the same system is done for free using the link building, and...

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

I couldn't really tell what this means when I read it. Is this the equivalent of me throwing 6 pieces of glass and a license plate onto a log and saying I grew a whole model of a car without an engine or wheels?

    Investing General Discussion

Does this allow you to set time or fast forward? Ex: simulate trading sessions over the last week? What I did a decade ago was write some basic algorithms from a book I read (Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets), then set parameters for the algorithms and run it over a year from stock...

    Investing General Discussion

What simulators do you use / recommend? I'm in the automotive simulation business and wrote a very basic trading simulator a decade ago (which is when I came to the conclusion I was better off blindly investing in large indexes). So I'm mostly just curious from a capability and design...

I can say that if a modder unlocks flying your starship on-planet AND implements being able to find the perfect union of resources on a planet that will be a must-have mod. Right now that's the worst part of outpost building.

I can tell you I had zero complaints about the gender distribution of the Starship Troopers coed showers when my dad took me to the theatre to see it when I was 12.

It's vendor loot. And its weight/value ratio is really low. Really, it's just flavor loot and meant to express the purpose of a room in an interactable, sandboxy way rather than being a resource for players to harvest.

Would love a tagteam between BGS and EpicGames to make an open-sourceish ES6 in UE5.

That was what made me think it was possible. It felt like it was building up to tag-teaming a return of Boston from the shithole wasteland to the art used in the intro of the game. The lack of that made FO4 the only BGS game I've ever not done a second playthrough of since Daggerfall.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

My big disappointment in FO4 is that the outpost building didn't support essentially cleaning up the wastelands. My dream FO4 ending was repurposing the entire area to rebuild a civilization. Kind of a dumb idea, but appeals to my love for sandbox games.

I love that within the span of a couple months two games were released that tried to push the boundaries on facial dialog animations. BG3 with their full mocap for all the things and Starfield for procedural stuff. BG3 obviously looks way better, but Starfield's procedural stuff serves as a...

I remember doing this build in Mechwarrior. Pick the fastest mech, put all points into speed, have some needledick weapon and just run at mach3 and the enemy couldn't hit you as your jousted them down.

I actually think there are too many structures in Starfield. I expected a mechanic where you'd use your ship to scan for structures on a planet and there'd be like, 4 on a shithole planet. Instead you can drop into an arbitrary location and surprise surprise there's a huge factory a kilometer away.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

I'd say that a space enthusiast would enjoy Starfield because you get to explore planets / moons in a semi-realistic universe. That was one of my favorite parts of Mass Effect 1. One of the things I kind of miss is that in Starfield there aren't verbose descriptions of the planets that expand...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

I'd definitely be up for playing a huge content mod that just adds zones to explore in your space ship. I'm really surprised there's nothing like that (yet) in Starfield.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

I'm still in early-mid game, but the spaceship flying mechanics and gameplay is pretty basic in Starfield and the content is thin. Space combat is more of a minigame than an alternate to the primary gameplay mode of shooting/exploring.

I've done a handful of entry quests for the factions and they're all higher production value than the entry main quest. It's crazy.
