Ive figured out you can get some serious fail-boat RNG when it comes to match making. Some "meta" builds for classes have shit-tier stagger checks and its god awful.

Alts have plenty of uses, but for feeding mats - its purely about feeding mats in tier 3. Tier 1 and 2 are just a hiccup in the grand scheme.
