First of all, he didn't have new prey in every episode. There were very few episodes that introduced a new character and storyline and focused solely on that storyline, and then concluded that storyline by the end of the episode. Almost none.

Chuk, nothing was resolved at the end of each episode of Dexter. There was nothing procedural at all in Dexter. The seasons were mostly self contained, at first anyway, but they certainly were not procedural.

They don't want to call it season 9 for what I believe to be obvious reasons. Those obvious reasons are seasons 5-8. Season 5 wasn't *that bad* in terms of just TV garbage. But 6 was so bad I never even watched 7 and 8. And by all accounts I saved myself a lot of trouble with that decision

I would say Martin Short's character is a necessity due to the "human element". Steve Martin's Character and Selena Gomez's character work because of it, he makes them more relatable through his interactions. Otherwise they would just come off as gruff and cold. I'm also at the three episode mark.

This is pretty decent. I wouldn't go out of my way but if you like Steve Martin and Martin Short worth watching. Selena Gomez is surprisingly good at deadpan.
