When I first saw the trailers for this I thought : "Oh christ...Vampire Diaries with magic", but I am very impressed with it. Especially because the main character is so incredibly flawed...hell all of them are very realistic complete fuck-ups but in a way that is rather believable.

I don't think they had enough writers lined up for this. Every episode feels like someone just took the show Bible and came up with their own standalone that uses the same beats.

The only positive thing about the massive delay between seasons is that I actually forget about the Venture Brothers in the interim and then am pleasantly surprised when they show up again.

Well they do have to make money... At least it is all cosmetic and hence optional.

I did like how they really were selected because they aren't significant in the current time line. Note that the pilot is a two part episode clearly meant for a long two-hour premiere. So it may well be that things are in a much better place after we see next weeks second half.
