    Tom Clancy's The Division

Amazon.com: Tom Clancys The Division: Agent Origins: Matt Lynch, Sasha Andreev, Amanda Day, Danny Mason<-- all four of the YouTube Agent Origins videos stitched together into a single half-hour vid. Not a bad way to promote the game given the audience those different YouTube channels already have.

    The Expanse

Jared Harris is just killing it in this role. The use of the South African accent for the Belters is perfectly haunting, was it implied in the books that belters speak a pidgin heavily influenced by Afrikaans? It bothers me that the ratings on this are, apparently, very low. Did SyFy...

    Ex Machina

He absolutely knew what he had done. He was either too egotistical to implement some sort of doomsdays scenario to make sure to destroy his work or realized that even if he did someone would be able to easily recreate what he had done. Remember that he has already developed a nascient AI in...

Sensible to reserve the other boroughs as fodder for DLC / expansion content...otherwise they'd be left with either Long Island or Jersey.

The show is on SyFy Now now, well the first episode at any rate. It really needs the second episode to complete the intro.

    The RPG Thread

I find myself really jonesing for a good fantasy-type RPG, especially after spending so much of the last year doing Destiny and Fallout 4. Nothing I see out looks to be all that suitable to my tastes, unfortunately. I never really got into the Witcher and it seems the number of games where you...

    Tom Clancy's The Division

Beta starts on Jan 28th for Xbone and Jan 29th for PS4 and PC. Ends on Jan 31st for all three... A 3 day Beta doesn't seem like much of a test environment, they must be pretty confident of the base content and only doing this for marketing and server load reasons.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Well given that Kanan in Rebels was meant to be a very young Padawan no where near the end of his training when the Purge hit + the obvious aging of Ahsoka + especially the clones who are all grey it really does seem as though 15ish years have passed since Episode III.

The first time we cut to that segment it says "11 years ago" so I was never under the impression it was concurrent with the events.

    Titans

DC Comics Drama Pilot TCA | Deadline Show is now DOA. Apparently it was the victim of a regime change at TNT where the new guys did not want to go ahead with something ordered to pilot by the older groups. It is a bit surprising given how successful the whole DCTV stable has been at CW and...

Yeah I was considering it, but not at that price point for a generation one piece of hardware and without the fancy controller things. I'll wait for the Samsung VR / PlayStation VR or the inevitable much nicer Oculus 2

    The Expanse

Episode 5 was a "catching your breath" episode after the tour de force of episode 4, but it was a good way to introduce a major new character who obviously has a hefty chunk of backstory but really couldn't be properly integrated until now. I did enjoy them getting used to their new ship, had...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

It would be nice to see Snoke and by extension Kylo Ren be something other than Sith. The Nightsisters of Dathomir, by virtue of inclusion in the Clone Wars series, are canonical users of the force who are not Sith, so there is precedent. From the time of the first teaser I had always assumed...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Of course the discussion on New Years Eve gravitated to The Force Awakens at one point. It was interesting to hear the perspective of people who were only very casually interested in the originals as well as those who are actively hostile towards Star Wars in general. Most note worthy were...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I think it is quite telling and important that this is known as Star Wars : The Force Awakens and not Star Wars Episode VII. Much of the prequel trilogy was marketed as and known as the episode number, in this case you don't see Episode VII much of anywhere save the opening crawl itself.

    Prelude to Axanar (2014)

It is a bit odd that public domain effectively ends at 1900. Late 19th century stuff is all fair game and has been Co-opted to death...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Supreme Leader Snoke is much more concerned with getting Kylo Ren and Hux off the base than he is with defending the thing. I think ultimately that Starkiller Base was not the major resource hog that the Death Stars had been. Sure there is a massive machine that is carved out of the planet...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

They did have a whole sequence where Leia sends an envoy to the Republic with proof that the First Order is up to very bad things, but it ends up being too little too late in a very Battlestar Galactica sense. It really could use a small sequence where they let the significance of what just...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I only today realized that Poe Dameron is also the crazy AI-inventor guy from Ex Machina and stars as Apocalypse in the new Xmen movie. I did recall hearing before that he had been in Ex Machina and briefly wondered: "as who? There's only like 6 actors in that whole movie...maybe he was the...

Star Wars: Battlefront, as told by Dice on Frostbite 3 (PS4?/XBone?/PC?)

When you have the labor intensive aspects nailed (game engine, sound, graphics, level architecture) it should be relatively easy to change things up and make a really compelling game from the component bits.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Clone Wars season 1 was rough, the art style had not yet fully gelled and it was indeed overly preachy and Ahsoka was kinda a brat. The series matured a lot in season 2, however, especially when they started really turning things toward an anthology style format where they had a single plot arc...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

It really seems odd to me that it has been 10 years since Episode III. I mean rationally I knew it was quite awhile ago, but I think the overall lack of relevance to anything else meant it was easy to simply ignore. I was interested in Episode III when it came out and certainly saw it opening...

    F is for Family

I did not listen to any of the interviews Burr did for this so maybe this was common knowledge, but I figured this was semi autobiographical and the middle kid is him. It's nice to see something focus on the early 70s because even "that 70s show" started in 1976/77 despite running for many...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Remember also that Palpatine really did believe that the Republic was bloated and corrupt where only the very rich and very criminal got any traction. The desire to fix that is what led him to crave power and succumb to the Dark. He did have a point in that the system was very corrupt and the...

    Fallout 4

It might be interesting to have a Fallout game set in Europe with a whole different take on post apocalyptic survival where the BOS haven't been seen or heard from, but they have a serious problem with being overrun by forces from an empire based in Africa (where things for the past 200 years...

Star Wars: Battlefront, as told by Dice on Frostbite 3 (PS4?/XBone?/PC?)

    The Magicians

It was a commercial-free advance airing right after the third part of Childhood's End. You had to have watched it live or DVR'd it as they didn't put it up online or even have it open on-demand. Leia is pretty much Adama from BSG who refuses to disarm because she believes there is still a very real threat, and she was right. From the opening crawl it sounds like the Republic started to take her seriously, but it was too little too late.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I did see the controversy earlier this month when the Force Awakens poster in China has shrunk Finn down to miniscule size and stuck him in an area where he kinda blends into the background as well as completely deleting Poe. I was wondering why the hubbub at the time.

"The Dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural..." There was always a promise that 'Sith magic' was much more interesting than what we actually saw on the screen. It is worth noting that the whole scene with Palpatine and Anakin in the opera booth is...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Actually the first Star Wars IS a defining moment in cinema. Look at cinema before Star Wars and after. The overall production values and general character of cinema changes immediately after Star Wars took the planet by storm in 1977-78. Remember that this film stayed in first run theaters...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Supreme Leader Snoke is a head-scratcher because from his appearance he looks to be rather old which would mean he was around during Palpatine's time. So he's one of three things 1) A previous Sith (like Darth Plageis the Wise) who managed to survive as a contemporary of Palpatine (perhaps...
