got the fire giant down. the big secret was "don't stand in fire". any time he started to shit flames i made sure to be not where shit was landing, and i didn't try terribly hard to move near him and attack. always kept 'under him' so he woudln't shield smack me from the top where i cannot hold...
I'm doing it as super shield and giant smasher hammer guy. weirdly the fireballs arn't bothering me at all. hold the shield up. take a little bit of HP. i keep getting hit with the whole-shield-flat slam. or he puts fire where i'm fighting and i get repeat hit by it. i'm so fat i can't 'roll...
on the fire giant. first try got him to like 20 percent before i walked into a furious magma pounding and died. second try i was too woried about my souls recovery. a few more tries in and i'm kind of runing out of flask toward the end. so i may have to get gud.
C (str) E (dex) B (int) scaling at cap. 247+247 damage so says the wiki.
i think i will have to retire the giant's hammer now in favor of a 2 damager at some point. i just need one that's as strengthy as possible.
i would play a DS2 style limited respawn ruleset. that would be very interesting. you could 'clear a place' for exploration, but no farming, even for droppable loot which is huge. i actually enjoyed its system of zone clearing +bonfire ascetics to send the zone into its own NG+ mode.
those new lore quests are kind of interesting.
I followed the tips above and finished limgrave's questchains. then using the new NPC markers , i spoke to all my npc's and caught up on a few more quests. i did all of sorceress sellen's questline, and some post volcano manor.
The first dose of git gud is killing shield guy. Lock on. Circle him or roll at him when he trusts. Stab in his sides or booty when he commits. Steal his shield. Best great shield for six+ areas.
i also just keep wanting to play. exploring and trying my build out on various situations is a lot of fun. tons to explore. and i want to fish out the lore. I have to do a fresh play through with other builds, but i may do a NG++++ sequence to get cheevo completion on my brick main.
i don't have a lot of context from other weapons, but i use giant hammer and it staggers most foes pretty reliably. hilariously when i have t he mimic out with the same hammer and the fingerprint shield we stagger most things and just pound them into the dirt.
i think the str scaling nerf is...
i need to review the "heavy" weapon alignment / strength build nerf to see if it's too annoying to keep using giant smash hammer or if I should just use one of the flavor of the month weapons for similar damage. I'm at the mountain of giants, using massive giant hammer. I could go have my pick...
when do you opt for new game plus by the way? do you get your whole ending , get back to open world, then later get the choice? or do you choose at time of credits?
i bet my mimic will still do it's job! (since i'm a shield bro.) if it can shield a lil while and not die that's all i want from it. cool about shield upgrades though it's still madness the gilded greatshield is literally the first great shield you can get. yet only like 3 shields block...
hah oof yea. i'm so tanked up i just whittle the foe, and when they are 'critically low' i'll just eat a hit to smack them. fucked me a time or two, but i got to the point that i can trade hits with a lot of mobs.
I predict incoming nightmare for me. interesting technology if true, but we cyclops's can't really 'see' 3d in 3d movies. VR headsets. old blue/red 3d. or real life parking of cars and such.
some one told me that if you gesture at statues with the gesture they do, secrets happen, but i must not have the gestures they want because i haven't found this in game yet heh.
i always 'kept the target' between me and the fresh gargoyle. the add will some times do big attacks 'at you' but it will try to jocky toward you with it's slow stride mostly and if you keep gargoyle A between you and gargoyle B you can buy more time.
though i was massive shield bro so maybe...
eventually mines start to drop 'bell bearings' which add old stone tiers to the vendor to buy forever. i would suggest that 1-4 are imminently spendable because you can find those bearings before the capital.
You can respec. And lots of ways to be badass. You can follow game advice in game or just get word of mouth tips. Or bang your head into random shit. All work
yea it's kind of hard to get a story tangent. the 'ranni the witch' questline series gives a great set of clues and items with descriptions about the lore. highly reccomend if you're not above peeking at the wiki.
i'm not sure if he was the first elden lord (married to marika) or her first kid. in any case i think the other god-dudes descend from him. or all the boys get named in that way.
yea what cyrusreij said
Its because those are three family lines. Renellas children are ranni renna and...uh. some other. Merikas bloodline has Melania etc. Godwyn the golden all he way down to sad God Rick.
Dark souls did thst with gwyn gyndolin gwynovier
can helper buddies put status on bosses? a friend is s tuck on the starscourge and i thought i'd lay down the rot and end it for him but i am not sure it's working chaotic fight to tell if it's working or not heh
