Moon, Uber is talking about roughing the passer. The way it's written now even minor contact with your arm/hand to the face and it's flagged. Way too often for my tastes for contact that is clearly incidental and not "roughing" in any way, shape, or form...but it does get called. I don't...

I can buy the hand contact to the face, but helmet to helmet when he's completely body wrapping Cam up is silly. I can even buy "by the book" it should get flagged with the hand to the face, but in reality there's no way that play should get flagged. I would disagree with that getting called...

It was also of the level of contact that looks dumb as fuck when they penalize it even in the regular season. I hate how black and white they make it sometimes when often it's involving guys coming off blocks just trying to get a hand on the QB that brush the head/face and get flagged 15 for it.

Caps first team in NHL history with 39 wins through first 52 games. Shootout kind of affects that stat though since we have 3, plus the OT changes.

Boston got smoked, good lord. Caps/Preds was fairly sleepy for first 40 min outside of a fuckload of penalties, little more O all around in the 3rd.

Snyder isn't GM. Nor is Vinny Cerrato (his right hand man) involved anymore. McCloughan wouldn't touch Manziel. Chances of him ending up as Cousins' backup are basically 0.

Yeah the cap credit thing is very strange. Overall pretty much works out as a 2nd round pick for Phaneuf. The price makes sense giving they're taking on all of the salary. Have to say a win for Toronto especially trying to clear space for a certain free agent this summer.

Pretty much a salary dump. Ottawa didn't have to give much up but I guess taking on all of his salary was the important part of the deal for Toronto.

Hahahaha that's fucking great. Decent deal they signed him to as well. Cap hit is a little high, but 5 years is a lot better than 7 or 8. Also No move for only the first 2 years I believe then a list of teams he can be moved to after. Not a bad deal for the player or the team.

Ravens divisional opponents definitely hurt the overall strength of offenses they faced. Cincy and Cleveland were bottom 2 in scoring and they accounted for a quarter of their opponents in the regular season. Steelers were also in the bottom half of the league. Jacksonville and Tennessee...

Yeah the idea of checking which offenses each team played has some merit, but Genj also pointed out the flaw in that argument in that teams can't help who they play really. I will note that as dominant as the 2000 Ravens' D was, they had their share of good fortune against Tennessee in the...

When I say age of the passing game, I mean how much better QB's and offenses across the entire league and not just one or two teams are at getting rid of the ball quicker. People generally assume Brady has one of the quickest releases in the game and they were all over him 2 weeks ago, Cam for...

Thought we were comparing them to Denver, Denver had 52 sacks this season (led the league). But they had 14 sacks in 3 playoff games (led the playoffs) against Roethlisberger, Brady, and Newton. Pretty impressive, especially in this day and age of the passing game.

Denver's D this year maybe not as dominant overall as other great D's like Seattle's a few years ago, Ravens in 2000, Bears in '85...but their pass rush in the playoffs (and especially against Pats/Panthers) was simply unmatched. They made those recent Giants SB teams with their vaunted pass...

I think Pace and Harrison both deserve to be in. So it's not completely terrible. I don't have as much of a problem with Dungy getting in, he's had a huge influence on the game outside of just his head coaching.

It would have been more fun if you guys would have let him try to dig up evidence of it. We've all said stupid shit in the football thread. Although I will lay claim to saying partly tongue in cheek way back somewhere between Weeks 2-4 that the Skins going 8-8 could win the division.
