I found your view on this unconvincing so far, and I dislike most of those new quests and might roll many away. However, the point you make here is spot on. Most old quests require wins, which can be disheartening for new players. In that light they are a good addition to the quest pool.

This thread and the biggest disappointment thread are highly subjective. I love FTL but it wasn't a huge surprise because I heard nothing but praise about it even before I bought it.

Telltale storytelling games were a big hit with me, and I initially only bought the first one (TWD) because they practically gave it away on steam.

Not gonna defend their lopsided design, but I assume from blue posts that the goal for legendaries was getting a "Wow!" effect from random loot, as opposed to earning it over a longer timeframe. The MMO genre is played out anyway. I wanted a Diablo MMO a decade ago, sure. Now, I would much prefer if they make a great ARPG in the Diabloverse instead of painting over WoW with the Diablo brush.

Keep in mind that Herald of Ice only hits when it triggers the death explosion. It's still nice, but often you wipe the pack with that explosion anyway and don't benefit from the curse. If it does not fire at all, you use another curse somewhere and maybe go over your curse limit?

D3 can't really compare to PoE in the areas you mention, it's too streamlined. D3 is prettier and plays more fluid though, for what that is worth to you. I doubt Blizz would take inspiration from PoE, although I would love if they did. PoE (and D2 for that matter) just isn't the kind of game...

Alts might be nice to fill the inevitable content draught. Only for people that actually like playing through the expansion a second time, if the mechanics stay as they are. These days most posts sound like they expect free max gear for their other characters just because they "already did it once".

I started with warlock and picked druid because my opening hand had some swarm-oriented cards. First turn I draw renounce darkness. Fun trumps winning so I played that right away and ended up changing the warlock cards in my deck to more, cheaper druid cards. Turns out fun and effective, who knew!

It's absolutely worth owning and playing a couple of days or weeks now and then, no itemlevel treadmill and no level cap raises are a big advantage there. Although if you like WoW I'd personally say Legion is a better game choice right now until the usual Blizzard content draught sets in.
