    Home buying thread

Given the financial realities slowly dawning on most states and municipalities, I"d be a little concerned about future salary. Hell, I am concerned - I work for the federal government and I expect pay freezes, layoffs, and maybe even salary cuts to hit us in the next year or two. Doesn"t matter...

Hell yes! That was the first game I ever got into, when we had a Vic-20 with a freaking tape drive.

It"s hilarious to see a list that dated, and even more hilarious to feel my nerdrage rising at the relatively low rankings of X-Com and The Bard"s Tale. As time goes on, these lists will become more and more controversial because playing a game is typically not as condensed an experience as...

Curt, congrats on a hell of a career and thank you on behalf of four generations of my family for ending an 86-year dry spell. May you be as successful in your new career as you were in your last.

While I never played a game with a multi-classing style job system, in theory it seems like a great way to keep community alive. Rather than trying to keep up with everybody"s alts, everybody can stay on with their main and just start plowing through content as a different class. They can swap...

Good, well-reasoned advice. +1 fo" sho. (And it makes me feel a lot better about buying those Springsteen tickets.)

For awhile they were saying there would be a grace period until the 22nd, then a couple days ago they changed it to the 19th, then (in the face of all sorts of anger from the community) Mark Jacobs apologized and they switched it back to the 22nd. They did right, but it was a lot of unnecessary...

My guess: Curt"s thoughts are "Oh, is that all? God bless this pitching arm and all that hard work." But that"s just a guess. I assume he has other investors involved, anyway. That"s a lot of risk for any individual to shoulder.

He was soooo dead - and it was a spectacular comic, one of the all-time greats. Bringing him back would have been less atrocious if it wasn"t tied to the clone storyline, which was a good idea in theory (it would have prevent the later Mephisto nonsense) but godawful in execution.

Yeah, it couldn"t handle the pure awesomeness of the fat Jaeger-chugger in the Pikachu costume.

The lightning crack in the first issue of The Dark Knight Returns. I don"t have a pic, but it still sends chills up my spine every time I see it.

For those interested in following this as-yet unnamed game, I recently stumbled on a 38 Studios fansite,38Watch, that appears to be doing a good job of aggregating the relevant news.

One cool aspect of city building in SWG was the ability to build a city near a content hotspot (the krayts stand out as the big one, but there were other POIs on settleable worlds). These cities were intimately tied into the game economy and provide ready access to content for other players...

I might"ve said this earlier in the thread, but skill-based systems are also nice in that you don"t get level segregation to the same degree. One upside of SWG was that people could start contributing to groups pretty much from the get-go, albeit in a limited fashion. Maybe more importantly...

Number one complaint? Lack of player cities. SWG sucked ass in so many ways, and even its player city implementation was half-assed, but despite its shortcomings it still added a dimension to the game that made it fun to play for hours and hours on end despite the appalling lack of dev-made...

For the love of all that is holy, don"t perpetuate the atrocity that is "D-Mat." He"s got a far less awful nickname already in "Dice-K." I"ve been thinking about GMG in light of Interplay"s attempts to raise $75 mil for Fallout Online. At this point, the lesson MMO developers need to pay...

I"ll bite. Facts would be good, but it"s probably way too early for you to give out even a little bit of substantive information. Given the folks you hired I"m guessing you"re going to work on a fantasy game based on original IP. Can you give any broad outlines in terms of design philosophy...
