Sigh twice now ran into a bug where my steel shows up in storage, but the counter at the top of the screen still shows 0, so I can't build anything that takes steel beams. Even destroying and rebuilding does nothing.
And you sure you aren't mistaking it for the ingots? I made that mistake the first time when trying to build on a new island.
I have run into several bugs:
- Ship pathing can be very funky ignoring direction and just sailing off randomly.
- Escort quests don't work
- Entering new age and banner doesn't go away
- ships travelling from old to new world sometimes won't show up in ship list and are just off the map (if you can find them on the perimeter you can regain control of them
Balance:
- Surplus production seems too easy
- Growing through artisan stage is wasteful as the only jobs for them is sewing machines and windows which you would have to build 5x the factories you need to meet the pop requirement. I think it may be that you don't really need to keep them employed, and this is easy to do since meeting their needs is not hard.
- Lots of gameplay that seems to work around Items you place inside buildings and ships but they seem rare to get unless you focus quests/fighting.
- A pause mode where you can queue orders would be helpful. There are times that you don't need this but once you expand to the new world there can be too many notices all at the same time and it becomes cumbersome
- the wind direction mechanic is a nice detail, but it doesn't seem to really add anything to the gameplay and should probably be nixed.
I have restarted three times and still haven't moved past artisan, there are a lot of resources I haven't seen a use for so there must be a good bit to unlock yet. There needs to be more info screens helping you analyze production flows. It can get very messy and always being reactionary is not as fun.
