It's the one thing I can see keeping people away from the game. Especially as there is continuous progression via gear, and upgrading workstations, chicken etc(unlike a typical fps shooter, including BRs). So if you go out, spend 15 minutes filling your backpack, then go to extract but get killed(and people love to camp those extraction bunkers) you basically lost all that time up to that point. God forbid you actually brought any upgraded gear or crafted stuff, you lose all that too. The Free loadout at least lets you go gather without losing anything but time if killed, but you can barely fight anything with that loadout, better to just use it as looting session and run from everything.
Actual consequences for losses make wins a lot more meaningful. That's why people endure the toxic community and gameplay of games like Tarkov and Rust.

Also at least half the playerbase of Tarkov ends each wipe with their stash full of top tier loot they were so afraid of losing that they never used it once and I'm guessing Arc Raiders will be similar. Even if they don't have wipes people will lose interest and quit the game with stashes full of high end shit they never took into a run.

Same. I usually don't play extraction shooters but a friend said what was said here about the chollness of solos.

I was streaming for said friend and they were like "wtf is going on, this is not the game I experience at all"

I ended up refunding. There's a good game here, I just don't see myself playing long term because of said frustration.

I kind of wonder if there is some hidden queue modifier where if it notices you are chill near other raiders, it matches you with other chill solo raiders

No joke, I played for like 3 hours tonight and outside of one person, most everyone was chill and didnt want to fight. Mostly people were trying to do quests

I dont think so, because I havent fired first once solo, yet get attacked all the time. No talking, just fire asap. Honestly just makes me want to keep using free load out, or never upgrade, because 90% of the time the second I do, you get killed. Like just now on the blue gate map, was getting shot at from behind and 2 people in front, who then all turned on each other. Or that match before, ran into some guy who had a sniper like ferro, but it could shoot multiple at a time(I guess its the next tier of that weapon), just smoked me with my common ferro on that blue gate map while I was looking for lemons/apricots.

I don't think its going to end up being for me. Especially as a 95% solo player. I do a whole bunch of free load outs, gather all these mats. Make a couple guns, upgrade them a little, make a full setup with nades and everything, and just end up dying to some 3 way battle, or while attacking an arc or arcs.

As gavin mentioned, why go out and work my way to some awesome epic weapon, full upgraded, if its just going to sit in my stash because its too dangerous to lose.

Thankfully it was just 40 bucks, and I already got 15 hours out of it. So not the worst way to find out if it was something I enjoyed or not. I should of just did the weekend test and saved myself 40 bucks, like I said I wanted too, but was busy with BF6 and life that weekend, oh well.

If I was a streamer and/or always had a squad to play with, it might be a completely different story.

Ditto botched an ambush after letting him recharge twice sniping and get got close. Then made an online friend and did 3 raid, made 2 more passing friend. Did did because we survived after 0:00 but the last elevator was locked and we finally died, I knew you could survive past, but apparently elevator still needs to be up.

Low energy, do for ribs and when you get fero practice pvp.

Was surprised how much damn jumping spider took from 2 groups though.

My only complaint right now is rocketeer should only shoot one missiles or slower, because trying to get to cover is miserable and usually out of stamina after 2 times despite being yellow mostly stamina tree.

Lv 12 looks like a great breaking for really helping to progress stuff, noticed I can buy lv 2 rigs that are pretty interesting, 2 safe pockets on loot version just about pays for itself if full of 2 blues or a bunch of arc metal

I think duos at a big disadvantage being ques vs 3s as far as I can tell

Did some audio testing with a friend of mine who is way more into audio engineering than I am and he told me they do 'panning' but not 'phasing.'.

IE, they do direction and volume, but they do not do a 'time' of arrival variation. There are small audio clues that people pick up on in real life as faint variations of when sound reaches the ear and how it arrives. The small differentiation of when it hits the left ear and where before it then is heard by the right ear etc. He went on rather autistically about it for awhile, had me stand in one place and listen to sounds and move around etc etc. They appear to do louder in the proper direction, but not do this time of arrival math. This also makes it more difficult to differentiate multiple sounds as they tend to blend in weird ways. Lastly, some of the environmental sounds don't have specific points of origin. Buzzing of bugs is the specific one I noticed lately. It is just 'around' you. Not from a specific origin and moving doesn't change it. So I am getting deep into the weeds on shit and its prolly something that if you aren't specifically looking for it you'd most likely not notice. However, as it relates to my real life work and stuff I valued highly in previous games it really stands out to me.

As to the specific technical stuff, I am no where near the level of sound engineer my friend is, so I'll take his word on the technical mechanics of it.
What games are you playing that sound better than Arc Raiders, please point me toward them.

Yeah it’s weird. I was soloing yesterday and having a complete different experience in solo than cinge. I keep running into people that yell friendly into the mic. My last game before Halloween candy handout was a guy hidden in the trees and when I activated the elevator he was saying “friendly here please don’t kill me” 😀 then he even thanked me after for being cool

Its crazy how different experiences can be. I tried one game again last night before bed and almost rage uninstalled. Someone put an explosive right on the terminal you use to call for extraction. I dunno if it was a mine or what, I was in a hurry because there was a rocket robot flying over this one, so had to wait, run in, hit button and then hide again. But no, ran in, and died as soon as I went to interact with the console.

Story time.

Sludig Sludig and I ran topside with a random and then friended him. He’s brand new. Cool dude.

Things got pretty tense as we had a rocketeer hovering around and arcs started showing up everywhere and we were by the elevator next to a medium loot plant. Also sludig gave me a rusted tool and I had one in the bank and had one on me and that made three so I can upgrade my gun station.

Well anyway. I owe sludig a case of beer because pussy ut over here made a run for the elevator and I thought slud and master-bate were close but not close enough. Doors closed and elevator timed out after and I was the only one that got out.

for another five minutes they are running to the water treatment plant dodging just about every arc on the map. Made it. Called the elevator- team of three shows up and luckily all five got in last minute.

I would have had some serious survival guilt on that one had they died.

Time for bar bingo and some booze that was intense 😂 (as I sat there on my couch cheering them sipping on a coors lite)

Before Arc Raiders, I probably had a total of 10 hours time playing extraction shooters because my personality heavily leans towards helping people rather than fucking with them. That trait tends to get you crushed in games (like these) which attracts a lot of complete faggots.

I gave this game a real try (made it to level 25) and I really did want to like it, but for every great interaction I had, I ran across twice as many people I'd back over in an 18-wheeler.

I love everything but the PvP and it's not because I was losing. In fact, I was absolutely shitting on people with the Anvil and would win nearly every engagement, but there's plenty of loot to be had in the world without ruining some other dude's day.

Just finished a game where I met a guy, ran with him the entire game, we go to extract and he shoots me in the back as I am calling the elevator. I was absolutely loaded down with a top-tier kit and would have wiped the floor with that faggot using his level 1 Stitcher.

I just have to accept that this genre isn't for me.

We did have a squad at extract say friendly and almost immediately start shooting. Being friendly is a risk, which is why I like doing it when we have a more clear upperhand.

My extract rate is really high though as I'm pretty risk adverse, which is a draw back, I'm at the point I'm getting slowed down by not charging hard into red zones for stuff.

That’s why we are a good team.
