You can play solo pve. I like group/official for social dynamics. The world feels way wilder and more dangerous alone for sure.
Some farming will be intensive alone for some things, but solo you can ramp up resource rates if you want.
The raids at the end are kind of lame solo just because you are expected to use the whistle command to boss around like 20 dinos and that feels kind of turds
