Pretty fucked up shit. This documentary tells the story of Larry Nassar, the USA gymnastics doctor who serially abused hundreds and hundreds of underage athletes. There also is a documentary "Athlete A" on Netflix which tells the same story. Basically, he's the worst human alive. Sentenced to 175 years in jail.

Some notable points:

- Molested everyone from neighbors to olympic gold medalists
- His attorney stated that the 35,000 child porn images found in his house was "wasn't a significant amount"
- From what I could put together, he abused a friend of the family's child, and the child told her parents about Nassar, and they didn't believe her, it ruined her and her dad's relationship and the dad ended up killing himself when he found out his daughter was telling the truth. (This may be inaccurate)
- During his trial, over 150 girls come forward and read statements saying how he is a monster, pretty hard to watch
- Larry writes a letter to the judge (a female) saying that he felt this was all a circus, and then, get this, writes "we all know hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." What a true fucking Lumi/Vanessa level idiot. You're about to be sentenced for raping hundreds of female children and you write something horribly misogynistic to the female judge.
- Michigan State University helped cover a lot of this up for a while, and they are true pieces of shit too

Really a devastating documentary. But it's interesting to see because he was a master manipulator, and so many of the girls had trouble coming forward because they were convinced that the treatments from this "esteemed olympic doctor" were legitimate and helping them. The treatments, by the way, he would take his ungloved hand and put his fingers in their vagina and anus to "stimulate nerves" to help the body heal. It's complete fucking bullshit, obviously. He would reportedly get erections while doing this, and it seems exposed himself and maybe rubbed his penis on people too. I'm not diving any deeper into the facts of this because it's disgusting.

By the way, Larry was a DO, which is an osteopathic physician, which is generally considered second tier to a MD back when he went to school, but not really now. These days they learn basically all the same shit but teach them some bullshit osteopathic manipulations that most will never practice. In most places DOs can sit for MD board exams and complete MD residencies. Chiropractors do the same shit, but without legitimate medicine, and are mostly quacks. This is a similar technique to what Nassar was doing:

Total bullshit. Adjusting someone's coccyx, lol. Complete bullshit.

They should have let this father throw, at least, one punch.

THIS is a father who actually wanted vengeance for what happened to his child.

He wanted to be stopped or he would have tried to attack Nassar in the halls rather than in the courtroom.
I mean, there's a non zero chance something triggered him while in court. Seems likely to not be planned out or like you said he'd have probably done it in the halls.

Thankfully he only got 5 years probation. Forgive me, are you a lawyer? I can never remember. I saw he got 5 years and pleaded no contest to manslaughter. How is this not "murder 1"? Obviously I think he should have gotten an award instead of any punishment, but just curious.

If someone abducts / abuses a child, that person is an open target for whatever people want to do, period. There shouldn't be any crime for killing someone who fucks with children. Fuck that shit.

It's a pretty cut and dry case of first degree murder. The prosecutor was probably scared of jury nullification and pled him out to manslaughter and he was sentenced to 7 years but the judge suspended it.

Holy shit. I'm watching Athlete A, which is the Netflix version of this documentary. After Nassar started being investigated, he tried dumping his child porn collection. He had hardrives with his name and phone number written on it in sharpie, and put them in the trash by his road. The police pulled his trash and found it. What a fucking stupid creepy retard.

many states start at 3rd degree murder for an obvious crime of passion which would be manslaughter. I.E. wife in bed with a man and you shoot.

you can still overcharge someone. and not all states have crime of passion statutes. this one likely did.

the judge could throw a 1st degree charge out if there is overwhelming evidence and argument that its a crime of passion. so again you'd be starting off in the lower tiers of murder to begin with even if they overcharged.

this is all provided the state has crime of passion statutes.

typical disqualifications for crime of passion are things like "Did you leave to retrieve the gun". It's manslaughter if you had the gun on you and squeezed right away upon discovery. If you went to go get the gun, you're usually looking at an upgrade.

I think the DA just didn't want to argue against the defense over it because he'd sound asinine given the moral ramifications of the case.
