Moving to Georgia at the end of the month. Never been. Going to be living in Athens.

Anyone live there and know any companies that are hiring?

Or anything I should know, like don't bring up the Civil War or talk about peaches or something like that?

Welcome to the land of the Bull Dawgs. I have lived here since 89. The rest of the SEC is the enemy.There are a few companies/factories in Athens but they are limited. The city tends to not welcome corporations due to the University of Georgia(They have control of the city) wanting to control pay in the county. The surrounding counties have a bit more freedom in that regard. In fact, Oconee county has exploded because of what Clarke county has done.

The city itself is actually very nice. It has the college town feel with plenty of bars and small town shops. Covid has of course had its effect here but the night life appears not to be. Summer heat is the negative but we also have few Winters. You do fine if you are a professional, otherwise the pay can suck. You can enjoy a lot of the features of Atlanta without the constant traffic.
