Chad Powers

I loved the skit. The first episode of this was really good...the second felt like not enough happened, but I think that was because Hulu only showed 4 episodes total, so I was expecting more plot development. I guess there will be 6 episodes this season, though. I'll watch it...I just hope it's a self-contained story and not drawn-out over multiple seasons.

I watched the first 15 minutes of The Lowdown. Won't be watching anymore.

Eh this is okay. It's like the temu version of Eastbound and down. They even stole the name. Chad Powers = Kenny Powers.

I'm enjoying it more than most things out this year, I do like that it has more gameplay unlike Ted Lasso. Its incredibly predictable and been done a ton but still has laughs

let alone twice in a week

This week's episode was probably the best episode of television I've seen released in 2025. Extremely tightly knit, bottle episode that almost entirely takes place on the sideline. I was really impressed. The first two episodes are maybe a 5/10 in term of quality, and I pretty much just watched it bc of Steve Zahn, but episode 3 was easily a 8/10 in quality.

Overall, I don't love Chad Powers/Holliday, but I do like all the other characters in the show. He's basically a high function socially inept autistic personality.

It doesn't click with me. All the jokes are off him acting like a retard. That shit gets old quick.

At least eastbound and down was funny because he was an asshole to everyone and acted like he was smarter and better than everyone and God's gift to the ladies. I prefer a cad to a retard.

You could say the same about McBride, he pretty much always just plays the same cocky asshole. I can't think of a movie where he plays anything other than a smartass. I feel like in this when he's in makeup he feels like he can be a different person but when it's off he reverts back to his douche self

Right but I prefer that kind of humor, over the top chauvinist asshole aka Al Bundy, vs a mouth breathing retard aka most of Adam Sandler's retard roles.

Alien Covenant. Albeit, a mostly forgettable movie outside of his character.

He's also an absolutely incredible screenplay writer/director. He wrote Vice Principals and Righteous Gemstones w/ Jody Hill and they're amazing. I haven't seen his horror movies, but he wrote some of the new Halloween Michael Meyers slashers.

Righteous Gemstones should've ended at S3. But I will say the best episode in the entire series is S4 E1, written and directed by Danny McBride (he doesn't star in it, it's a stand alone episode that takes place during the Civil War).

I've heard Danny McBride is the nicest guy in person, and he has this innate ability to make you sympathetic towards the biggest, most selfish, pieces of shit characters. In East Bound & Down, Vice Principals, and Righteous Gemstones I found myself feel sympathetic for his characters and even rooting for them. He's writes the equivalent of weird anti-heroes but for comedy. Instead of Wolverine or the Punisher who do bad things for good reasons, you see this narcissistic selfish person slowly change to become somewhat better of a person and care somewhat more for those around him that I think is really easy to relate to. His characters don't become saints, but they become slightly better than S1 E1.

I loved when he met his dad. Don Johnson, and he was an even bigger p.o.s. than Danny's character. I guess he sort of does the same with Goggins characters in the other shows. His enemies are even more over the top bad guys and even more slimey than he is.
