Two of the most recent blockbusters in China have been action movies with chinese involved in Africa: Wolf Warrior II (a kind of Rambo 2 on amphetamines) and Operation Red Sea (more like, let's say, a kind of chinese version of Black Hawk Down). So this might kinda explain the existence of this movie?

China is investing billions in Africa building roads and opening mines and lending money, they are going to be the 21st century "colonizers" but they just want raw materials and eventually cheap labor. They recently pledged to invest over $60b in africa over the next few years
Foresight Africa viewpoint – China’s engagement in Africa: What can we learn in 2018 from the $60 billion commitment?

Unlike Western companies though its not aid, its investments and they fully expect a 100-1000x return on their investments over time.

Naw it's more practical,

might as well employ hundreds of cheap Africans and parade around the ppl you conquered, also it's easier to just have black bad guys, so much easier to see who is good and who is bad(black).

I have not seen China Salesman, but in Wolf Warrior 2 and Operation Red Sea, the main antagonists are european mercenaries in the first and arab terrorists in the second. A strong theme in Wolf Warrior 2 is the great friendship between chinese and african people (even if the representation of africans is... let's say... problematic).

Note that both films are loosely based on an actual intervention of the chinese war fleet at the start of the civil war in Yemen back in 2015, when some chinese ships part of an international fleet tasked to protect tankers from piracy went to Yemen to rescue hundreds of people (and not all chinese) fleeing the war. It's basically considered to be the "Hey guys! We are not only an economic world power, we are also a military world power!" moment for China.

It should also be noted that, in recent years, the governmental body that gives its seal of approval to chinese films based on their content has tightened its criteria. It's for example impossible today to make an official movie where criminals go unpunished. Mysticism and supernatural is also frowned upon. In the same line of ideas, I would not be surprised if anything shedding bad light on the key geopolitical and economical ties between China and Africa were also a big no-no these days.
