long story short
cousin with copd went to hospital #1, said had pneumonia, stayed 3 days release
3-4 days later, had issues again, went to hospital #1, stated over a week, pneumonia still
released from hospital, to rehab for 2 weeks, after 3 days, no rehab as hospital didn't send orders, multiple request from staff and family
after 4/5 days, issues again, went to hospital #2, they requested records from hospital #1, got nothing, multiple request from staff and family
over 2 weeks everything went south, never got records.

both hospital are owned by the same mega health system, they all share records instantly, as far as i know, hospital #1 has said nothing other than we are working on it.
don't know the details, but her oldest son has filed official complaints

i have never heard of a hospital loosing nearly 2 weeks of records. maybe there could be issues with the doctors' notes? as i know everything a nurse does is recorded with their scan system. anyone ever had a place not release records?

I deal with medical record gathering all the time with financial planning. Hospitals and doctor offices simply don’t give a damn. It’s not a priority for them, it’s a nuisance and a cost. A patient legally owns their medical records and can’t be denied, but it’s not always fast. There’s a reason these places carry so much Med-Mal and E&O insurance.
