Funded it, but to be honest they need millions for that to happen. Hand drawn animation is more expensive then it has ever been.

I hope they have someone funding it based on if the Kickstarter is a success.

That guys the best.

I worked on arcade machines as an apprenticeship when I was 15, and was lucky enough to rebuild a Space Ace, and Dragons Lair cabinet for some rich guy.

The laser disc in that machine was huge

I agree about the $. I'll happily throw away 25 bucks to the guy though. I honestly probably dumped 50-100 playing his games.

As much as I want to see this happen, I'm not sure I see it succeeding without miracle donors or some wide spread PR driving it.

Guy say's it himself, it's been forever and no one is expecting anything like this.

That's got to be the worst Kickstarter video I've ever seen.
Yeah...it's bad. Scripted reality just doesn't make sense. I don't get why people just don't do what Lord British did and just have a couple of the original folks sitting around talking nostalgia and making the games and take the best 5 minutes and make a video out of it. They have a decent idea here, but the tiers and the execution of the Kickstarter are retarded. Anyone familiar with Bluth's work knows what they're getting, they really don't need to sell it with a porn worthy script.

Well they need 500k just for the 10 minute pitch video which is what the Kickstater is for. That is to just sell it to a buyer who has to put up a minimum of 70 million.

70 Million isn't that much for an animated movie. (Princess and the Frog Budget was 102 million) Coincidentally, Titan A.E (Bluths last major project) budget was 72 million. (and that was 15 years ago!)

They possibly may make thier Kickstarter goal, but the next step is much harder to achieve given 2D animated films are pretty tough to sell to buyers.

I'd enjoy a Dirk the Daring film but I'm sure as fuck not going to pay 125 bucks for a Blu-Ray.

talk about a video game that was way, way, way ahead of its time. I still remember playing that game on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey and they actually had two extra monitors set up above the main monitor so onlookers could watch people play the game. As much as I'd like to see a Dragon's Lair movie, doesn't look like it's going to happen; at least not through a kickstarter.

Back in the day that game was miles ahead of anything else. It was like some magical thing that had been sent back in time, sitting there in a line of 8 bit graphics cabinets was this animated movie machine you got to use.

I was never too good at it, but knew guys who could get through the whole thing.

This isn't the first time that Don Bluth has tried to make a Dragon's Lair movie. Here's some concept art that was originally pitched back in 1984 as kind of a prequel to the events of the first game:http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/...related/movie/

It's also been re-pitched again and again past that first attempt with the ideas/plot getting progressively more terrible. (ex. Dirk and Daphne's son trying to follow in Dirk's footsteps to be a hero.) The Don Bluth that could make movies like An American Tail and The Secret of Nimh has checked out a while ago. If this ends up being another Rock-A-Doodle or Troll in Central Park, just leave it be.

If it stays on pace at 22k every 3 days it's not going to make it so it won't matter.

Took me an entire week at about $5 worth a quarters a night, but I did it! I won't say it was the best $35 I've ever spent, but it wasn't the worst!

I would see guys with crumped up Xerox sheets with the entire order of the game still fucking up the timing then losing their place on the list.

Double Dragon was definitely the game I dumped the most coins into other than Pinball. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and that damned robot football game were awesome too.
