For it's time it was great. MMOs were getting too exclusive towards the hard core poop sockers and that allowed single player RPGs to stage a comeback.

That mod got updated to tweak the values a bit more. I don't really see a huge difference outdoors, but interiors seem a bit brighter since they actually do depend on the skylight variable too.
