No release date yet, studio is MGM which is now owned by Amazon but this is definitely going to theaters only first.

One of the teenage boy actors in this movie is Cooper Hoffman, who is the son of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was the star of The Master


the trailer was weird, I like most of PTA movies although Inherent Vice was AWFUL but man this movie looks too weird/70s for me

shittiest title for a movie I've seen all year, although I'm sure it means something deep

Saw last night before Canada shut down all theatres again.

Fantastic movie. Very light and funny.

Don't expect a suicide or a bowling pin beating.

I'd put it in my top three movies made in 2021

a reviewer i watch didn't like the movie, said its basically about a 15 year old boy chasing a 25 year old chick and she basically fucks him. how the fuck is that ok I just don't get, other than "hollywood wants to make pedophiles seem normal"

looks too boring and slow for me, i forgot this guy did Inherent Vice, which was one of the worst movies I've ever seen

oh he mentioned the title refers to a record shop in the 70s on the east coast ala Tower Records, long gone and not mentioned or part of the plot at all. Just one of those "IM A FUCKING ARTIST, OK" things i guess

The movie is a bit aimless (but Haim-full! *ba-dum-tss*) in a slice of life kind of way, with both characters trying to find themselves and each other. Bradley Cooper, Tom Waits and Sean Penn are hilarious in their small parts. Hoffman and Haim are great. I enjoyed it but it's a weird brand of humor. It's not as extreme and borderline experimental as Inherent Vice so it should find a broader audience.

The poster sure is sexualized for the director claiming the title doesn't mean anything.

Licorice = acquired taste. Older woman/different type of woman or something of that nature I'd guess.

Didn't get shut off. Was about 2 hours 7 minutes.

Spaced out around 1 hour 40 minutes during a transition, but got back in. Overall decent coming of age story if you like this type of humor.
