Turning a game trying to pretend it’s a show into a show is kind of like proving all the haters, like me, wrong so I hope this does extremely well or is laughably bad.

There is a set with EDITH in the name that are English audio / and lots of languages in the sub titles. At least according to NZBGeek.

i'm playing Gaiden Man Who Erased His Name right now and enjoying it, even though its like 90% like every other yakuza game but man i love playing poker in the game lol

i have little hopes for this, the people involved deliberately went in kinda blind to the games so that doesn't seem like a good idea. i hope at least it has a goofy vibe and not too serious. I saw the 2h yakuza movie recently and it was weird as hell, didn't hate it but the only similarities to the games are the clothing people wear. and the shiba inu puppy.

Watched the first three episodes. It's a little hard to follow plot-wise, as it keeps switching between 1985, 1995, and 2005.

I have no idea who Aiko is or why they're looking for her.

I have no idea why I should care about the plot to get the land deed and stamp, because since the tower is already built in 2005, obviously they did get it.

10 years between the 1995 situation and the 2005 situation feels a little tight, how did Kiryu have time to both rise to the top as the goroshi, and then serve a lengthy prison sentence?

PROS:
Did a great job of making Kamurocho come to life. The fountain square and back alleys especially.
Fight scenes are well-choreographed and well-shot.
Acting is good overall.

I think since they went with the "Like a dragon" IP a lot of their story building is in hindsight. I havent watched the show yet, which i plan to this weekend but that could be a reason why there are questions of characters lol

I only watched the first episode but Aiko was other girl that is not Yumi that was part of the arcade robbery with them in 1995. They have a scene in the first episode showing her on video helping fill a van with dead Yakuza that is starting the kick off of a big war.

From the first episode it seems okay. I just wish or hope in the middle of the serious plotlines Kiryu starts on the path to be a slot car racing champ.

The frivolous stuff in the games was always optional sidequests and had nothing to do with the main story, which was kept pretty straight and serious. It's cute, and funny, but doesn't really match the atmosphere they are going for in the show.
