game releases Oct 26th, 2021 on all systems (except switch) and is supposed to be a single player only, no MTX, no GAAS game.

Avengers (the video game) was really, really terrible and was created by Crystal Dynamics and Montrol Eidos. This game is by Montreal Eidos alone.

I like GOTG, my only exposure is from MCU movies so I wanna play this game but man the humor, pacing, visuals, everything just feels off. I have a feeling this is gonna be a real stinker of a game.

Its bizarre they won't spend the extra $20, 30, 50m to license the actual MCU faces and looks, keep your cheap VAs but make the faces look like the MCU people. Stop trying to make your own version, you'll easily make back your money if you just get Chris Pratt, Bautista, etc face models in any game. I thought they would have learned that lesson from Avengers but apparently not.

I saw the trailer for it and I think the drastic difference between the characters and voices are going to be too jarring since most of the audience is going to be from those who enjoyed the movies

If you license the mcu faces, then it's an mcu game. I'm sure they would handcuff you creatively in what you can do, what stories to tell, and what characters you can have.

This allows them to tell whatever story they want, more or less. That doesn't necessarily make it a good thing, just that it's probably the main reason why they DIDNT go that route.

Every other thing about that trailer screams Gunn's MCU GOTG, from the mother narration intro to the songs to the freaking lighting. It exacerbates that jarring feeling when the characters look and sound so very different.

That hurt the Avengers game in part as well I suspect. You spend a decade watching the films, then they introduce something that while it originated in comics, you're used to the films, and everyone looks like "Great Value" versions of that mental image.

I can get past the look / voices. I have issues with the quality of the game we're seeing.

Take Lady Hellbender video. She looks a little off in a couple shots, like her shoulders around her kneck don't match the arms coming out of her monster hunter suit. After picking the Drax option, he seems to kinda warp back to Quill and then it just plays Quills anyways (because Drax was the wrong option, or this is a scenario where it's going to play both). This makes me wonder how much many of the choices even matter.

It's the stupid little stuff like that that will bug me and make me not want to play it.

I enjoyed the Avengers campaign, it’s after that the game fell apart for me personally. So single player version of that with Guardians of the Galaxy is intriguing. That being said, I’ll wait for reviews before buying it which in a way says a lot as this type of game should be an easy pre-order normally.

You'd think so, but you really stop noticing it very early on. The Avengers game was just monotonous and not fun
