Violence is human nature. It will exist in any society, no matter its religious beliefs.

What the discussion was about is the degenereracy that arises from the human inability to understand the world and the necessity of the mind to explain what is not understood. Society seemed more stable when these explanations had a higher purpose attached to them. As this purpose is diminished but the necessity of belief is not, society seems to become more degenerate.
As much as I'm not a huge fan Jordan Peterson emphasized this point well. It's the something larger than yourself part. You are accountable to a higher power which naturally overpowers narcissistic tendencies. SJW ideology is really all about your personal feelings being the highest power which enables all kinds of irrationality.

I understand well enough. To paraphrase you, cults that provide no purpose for life are shittier than ones that do because of idiots. My point is that idiots are going to be idiots either way.
Idiots have nothing to do with this. Smart people are in cults and religions too.

Given that your premise is low IQ people and their impact on society, you actually are. Being a Christian or any other religion doesn't keep idiots from turning to crime. Whatever "purpose" you think religion provides doesn't allow them to escape the limits their inability to think imposes on their lives, or their inability to make good life choices.
That's true, but it does provide a path to redemption which they can understand if there comes a point at which they're willing to. That point usually comes either at rock bottom of an addiction or when they're in jail.

Magical thinking may be magical, but it does have a coherence of its own. If a man is unable to grasp certain things it may be that he is able to grasp them if explained in a different way. Stuff like "don't steal because God said so" versus a Sam Harris lecture on the ethical reasoning behind why stealing is ultimately against your self interest.

If a person can't talk to the idiots, how smart are they really in a practical sense? There may be autists in this world right now who are the smartest human beings ever born. It makes no difference at all. The sane mind must be able to encompass the insane one. If it can't you've got two warring insanities.

this article has too much funny in it.
Jussie Smollett’s neighbors cast doubt on his attack story

https://nypost.com/2019/02/11/jussie-smolletts-neighbors-cast-doubt-on-his-attack-story/?utm_source=reddit.com
“I don’t believe it happened the way he said it did,” said Agin Muhammad, who lives in the same swank high-rise near the Navy Pier as Smollett.

“I’ve been in this neighborhood five years. I don’t believe it, not around here … Half the people are gay and the other half are black.”

A patron at Lizzie McNeill’s Irish Pub, about a block from the scene of the alleged Jan. 29 incident, said Smollett’s story “doesn’t really make sense.”

“It’s a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around,” said the man, who wouldn’t give his name. “They have cameras everywhere … Why can’t they find the attack?”

Last week, The Post traced Smollett’s likely route to the underpass from a 24-hour Subway sandwich shop where he bought a tuna sandwich and a salad.

Near the foot of a stairwell to the Loews, The Post found an empty hot sauce bottle that was partially filled with a clear liquid that smelled like bleach.

The Post alerted police, who seized the bottle. Guglielmi said it was turned over to the FBI for analysis.

The FBI declined to comment.

I think we are all in agreement that there is a fundamental allure to pretending there is something out there to be a part of. Some mythologies are worse than others, objectively. The point I do not agree with is that a secular ideology that doesn't pretend there is some purpose to life is necessarily worse than the myth based ones that do.

I think the point is that it seems, so far historically, they have been worse? We haven't seen many secular ideologies (and all lack cosmic purpose), and they're all pure cancer so far.

Who knows, maybe one will coalesce that doesn't suck? Not true socialism and whatnot.

and there it is. they're just gonna let it go. no surprise
There's very little upside to pursing him over it.

That's the softest possible way they could have called him a liar though. If he decides that this publicity stunt wasn't enough and tries to milk it again in a week or two they also have this to throw in his face.

It's good enough for me. It's not like there's a shortage of actual crime in chicago where they need to be chasing people who just make shit up. ya know? It's shitty... but consider the source. If his career was in a bad enough spot where he figured this was a good career move, it's not like he's much longer for the stage anyway.

haha no, its only the most convenient, it doesnt address the hoax he pulled or the consequences of filing a false police report. us regular schlubs would be looking at 6 months to over a year behind bars. but this faggot gets fre publicity and has the shitcago police to cover it up for him. he isnt even facing any fines. must be nice.

Honestly, most of us regular shlubs would be looking at an angry cop and maaaaaybe a light beating or a night in the drunk tank on the charge of "fuck you". You've got to stir some REAL shit to piss off a lawyer enough to be that vindictive.

Cops are pretty used to people lying to them about crimes.

Down here at least. Maybe they're more hardass in Joisey.

They will go after you for prank calling 911 and shit. But he didn't do that, right? He just made false reports through non emergency channels.

I for one want to thank all the thugs who decided to document their felonies on their smart phones for future police use. inventing a smart phone was the a genius move on behalf of the law enforcement.
It's crazy how many just broadcast to the world their location 24 hours a day and do check ins at places putting them in the general location and time they committed the crime.

They're the real geniuses. Do the work for the police and then suddenly the police become obsolete.
