Mythbusters

Hopefully wasn't them getting fired, but instead was them going on to bigger and better.

It'll limp along for another year or two but this is pretty obviously the show starting to wind down.

Running out of good myths, not as much stuff to blow up, the build team were getting the bitch duty and Kari is running out of time to do porn.

i was with this show from day one, hell i was a fan of these guys before that when they did those robot war shows back in 99-00. that being said, i have more or less skipped the last 1 or 2 seasons because they are just stupid and boring the things they are trying to disprove. they have been relegated to debunking viral ads which they already know are CGI, the only ones i would watch are the duct tape challenges, but even thats fucking dull. maybe kari will do playboy now before father time kicks her ass.

This season was actually better than the last few. Cut down on the "fuck it, let's blow it up" bullshit and did more real testing. And Jaime seemed to be having more fun this season than...well ever. Still some fucked up and horribly done tests(black powder vacuum for example) but on the whole it was an improvement.

I saw it posted somewhere that they were doing this to cut down on most of the "fluff" and show more of the actual prep / work down before the test like they did in the first couple of seasons.

i don't watch the show every week anymore, mostly just when i hear about a myth i like to see. really don't like them leaving.
the problem with the show, Adam has talked about it many times now is that they are now much better at doing stuff. all the funny trial and error is gone.

think the show has run its course, would much rather see a show with Adam building props and other crap at this point.

I would have liked the finale to be another Shark Week special but I can understand how time and filming constraints prevented that.

I've been watching the show since day 1 and even I thought it was on the short list of getting cut. However it does make me wonder if there is something in the works for them since they keep saying "on to the next adventure" kind of stuff.

Which sounds nice but I'm sure it's more a cost saving thing than that.

HOWEVAH! If you saw the supersonic ping pong ball episode that might be an idea of what the show could look like. They focused a ton on the build and the science behind it, and it was pretty sweet.

Last night's episode and the one with the roundabouts were both actually from 2012, they just never aired here in the US. There was apparently some legal issues with a guy that does a web series that they were based on/stolen from or some shit.

This. Don't really want to shitpost on folks who like this show, but it's long since been relegated to rerun marathon status for me.

I was fairly surprised at how abrupt that was. They rolled the credits and then out of nowhere, "We are saying good bye to these three individuals who have been with us for 10 years" Good night everyone. That really seemed kind of cold. Whether you liked them or not, they deserved a little bit more respect than that.

I thought the rumor was all 3 had been hired by Disney to make robotics for all the new Star Wars movies?

Not sure why that would matter. Tory did a lot of the stunts and model stuff for ep1-3 too, and many other films while working on Mythbusters.



edit: Nope, I take that back, after checking IMDB he stopped working outside ILM and the film industry when he took the job at Mythbusters. Foot meet mouth.

Like most others, the first seasons were awesome when they really spent time analyzing the myth and trying to replicate things. Then the Build Team came along and the focus seemed to shift to bigger and better explosions. I do agree that they could have been more tactful with the announcement though. At any rate, I haven't watched the show in 6 or 7 years but I am intrigued at them going back to the old style format.
