It's amusing and weird that so much of hockey media continues to parrot the narrative that the Capitals are only concerned with getting Ovechkin the goals record, as if our front office hasn't done a terrific job of tactical selling of certain assets, while injecting youth into the lineup. Our farm system went from bottom 5 a few years ago to middle of the pack now. We haven't traded away tons of draft picks over the next few years, either, and the amount of cap space we have coming off the books after this season AND next season is crazy. Obviously still need to keep hitting on draft picks and use that cap space properly, but some projections make it sound like we're completely barren of assets for the next 5 years.
