Remake is for people who loved the Midgar parts of FF7, Rebirth is for people who loved the non-Midgar parts.
I knew a lot of people who didn't like Midgar, but I was always a Midgar guy. I wish Remake had expanded on it more. I think Chapter 3 was the only part that actually showed us more of Midgar than what the original game did. I wanted to walk the streets of the upper level and whatnot, not just hang out in the (way too bright) slums for 30 hours.
Rebirth is a much better game than Remake, putting all that other stuff aside. 90% of it was fantastic, though the handling of Dyne midway through and Aerith at the end were both completely retarded and sanitized as fuck.

No dyne was not fighting personal demons and ended in tragic suicide even after knowing he had something to live for, hitting a true long tragic story that also ties in one of the party charachters…

I have been thinking about why this does not just suck, but fits their new "world" really... they changed the world of FF7 with all the additions - they really changed the entire thing... and the Dyne thing show it.
I liked Crisis Core...but that game really did it, it did the change and everything there of...
It... dehumanized everything. Everything is some demon monster clone experiment parasite bug alien thing... EVERYTHING. It takes away the simple humanity of characters, it takes away the stakes of the world and the grounding.
EVERYTHING is some jacked up something by shinra experiment or the alien or the anti-lifeforce- EVERYTHING is some demon mutant thing, everything and everyone is some mako thing or experiment thing or something - nothing is /human/ nothing is really worth fighting for, nothing is real.
In the OG, the experiments were all exceptional, the alien was the 1 real bad guy... it was not everything and everyone, and everything single everything is some over the top huge WTFBBQ.
Crisis Core really infected everything with the whole clone thing, leaving Genesis alive as a whole "if we REALLY WANT A NEW GAME LULZ" thread... etc.. it just got worse and worse from there and the remake/rebirth games just took it all to 10000
