NZBMatrix is dead. What now?

So I've been using NZBMatrix for all my Newsgroup activities for a long time now. It interfaces so nicely with SABNZBD and Sick Beard that I never thought of using anything else. Does anyone else have suggestions on index sites that are as easy to use and will be less prone to dying suddenly?

Also, the RIAA, MPAA, and all other copyright protection organizations that the US government allows to use mafia tactics to enforce their bullshit can get fucked so hard.

I guess too many people broke the first rule of usenet.
I would be interested to hear what other options people have as well. IPTorrents will do me for now.

Damn this sucks. I've lost both of my Index sites in the last week. I'm also open to suggestions for replacements.

While it is nowhere near as convenient as an index site, if nothing else you can always download the newsgroup post titles via a program like Newsbin (not Newzbin) manually and then download the nzb through sabnzbd (or Newsbin itself, which is what I do). It is a few more steps and not automated, but if you're left stranded and need to watch shows or read comics or whatever you typically use newsgroups for (porn), you're not dead in the water. I only just started using nzbmatrix this past week, as I've been doing it manually for years. Good thing I didn't pony up for a lifetime membership.

Same here. Used torrents for years and years but started getting tired of the warning e-mails so switched to usenet for security about a year ago. Started with NZBMatrix and never looked back because it was so automated and easy. Now I have to learn how to do it manually which sucks. Hopefully a new automated indexer shows up soon.

I hope he gets hit by a train. It is guys like him who piss me off because they act like stopping piracy is even possible and that he has a hand in it. He must be so proud to have stopped a little bit of piracy on a file transfer system that has been around since before the internet at large. What a hero.

I just use torrents myself and have never had a letter (probably my isp just being lazy as I just use eztv and kat.ph nowadays) but a friend was grumbling like buggery about nzbmatrix earlier today.

He said he is tryingnzbfriends.comandnzbmovieseeker.comfor now but is dreading having to go back to old school downloading headers usage if these don't work.

The other one shut down was nzbsrus I believe.

I feel like there has been a huge shift in what these anti-piracy assholes are focusing on. I feel like they figured out that P2P took way more man hours than just focusing on the indexing sites. Taking NZB Matrix down stopped thousands of downloads, and I bet not nearly as much man power as trying to stop the same in torrents.

Sucks.

Haven't looked extensively at all of the options, there are plenty of adequate alternatives, not sure if any of them have the community and download comments that I liked with Matrix, the scene always fills the void soon enough however.

What about Sick Beard's Index and Womble's Index? Aren't both of those indexing newsgroups? Haven't relied on either of them, but they're both integrated with SickBeard.

I never relied on either of them either so I have no idea.

I have found a couple that seem like they will work. NZBClub seems good, but looks like it is getting hammered with new users since the Matrix closing. I also see a user indexed site called Filesharingtalk.com. Can't user Sick Beard or Couchpotato with it that I can see, but looks legit.

Just tried Sickbeard's index, and it just pulled a show fine. I have no idea if it gets updated quickly, or where to even manually search their index, but it at least when I clicked a show and set it to wanted, it got it very quickly.

There's nothing stopping anyone from running their own Newznab indexer, it's not even hard if you have any linux knowledge at all. Nzb.su allowed registrations for a short while after nzbmatrix.com shut down, but looks like they're gone now.

I think this is a good thing for Usenet, public nzb sites bring too much visibility to DMCA takedown assholes like the one mentioned above. It's much better if people can't use Usenet unless they can get access to a private Newznab indexer or navigate the old school header downloading methods, because that way user bases will stay low enough that no one will make the effort to spam DMCA takedowns to Usenet providers.
