Briar was in the short story Messenger's Legacy, gave his backstory. Interesting little read if you want to delve in to him a bit more.
I enjoyed the book. I think I'm becoming a real softy for most books anymore. I like Brett's style of writing and found myself very rarely caring that the larger story wasn't really advancing because I was enjoying reading the characters. I want to dislike the meandering and lack of focus, but I can't seem to.
