This is his own script set in the Resident Evil universe, so dont expect an attempt to tell the story of whatever game.

As long as it's good I don't actually care. They rehashed the game story a few times terribly and once solidly.

What?! What movie did it solidly? And if you say the series, I will have this entire board shit on your front porch and have you permanently locked in the Rickshaw with whoever the fuck is locked in the Rickshaw. 😂

It is, but you have to admit that you KNOW they can do RE better as a movie. Make it a little less slapstick and a little more like The Crazies with Olyphant (still holds up fantastically, BTW) and you have a winner.

Let me elaborate a bit.

A movies job isn't to just entertain. It needs to immerse you into a world, make you feel something...to hijack your emotions, thoughts, make you think. A movies job is to make you think, react. A movies job is make you feel like you're part of something bigger. Not just to be entertaining.

Somewhat true. Some movies are supposed to do that. Movies like Resident Evil though are just to entertain, maybe scare you some.

I've spent nearly 25 years thinking "how the fuck would I escape this bullshit room?"
Well the guy right outside the chamber door could have ran inside because that door opens and closes so slowly. The ones carrying the equipment are screwed regardless. How the equipment wasn't lasered and remained intact is another issue.

We come to this place for magic. We come to theaters to laugh, to cry, to care. Because we need that. All of us. That indescribable feeling we get when the lights begin to dim, and we go somewhere we've never been before; not just entertained but somehow reborn. Together. Dazzling images on a huge silver screen. Sound that I can feel. Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this. Our heroes feel like the best part of us. And stories feel perfect and powerful because here... They are.

I have said it before, but she does a great job acting there and the showing enough but not at the end was some good film making - for all the cheese or whatever that is complained about - the 2nd run through of the lazer room in the ... 3rd? 4th? where they just had a billion clones to kill was not as good.

You cannot 1:1 the game to a movie, even if the game was "setup" as a movie- the first RE movie did well in a certain balance of horror - terror - action while not fully going too far to be a straight up gore fest horror saw movie, but also have a draw of a traditional action movie. It gave enough plot points of umbrella and Easter eggs to keep those deep in the franchise watching while having normies follow along nicely.

It is one of the /few/ "horror" movies I watch, that and event horizon... maybe a few others that I have forgotten but those are the only few I have seen a handful of times and they are "fun" aka entertaining. and I hate horror movies.
