I've been playing a couple of months now. It's pay to win though, so just be warned... but you can play for free and do fine since it matches by you with similar players.
It's turn based, tactical in the sense of ranged, melee, magic and physical defenses, ultimate moves, managing energy, initiative. You can wait, defend, move and/or attack on your turn.
You have to learn what each monster can do.
