Not my fault you didn't account for the most important year in cinematography history, excluding the year a young Screamfeeder Screamfeeder arrived in LA, all starry eyed with mop and bucket in hand.
You think I had my own mop & bucket? Country boy in the big city my son.

I had that shit on lease from TWC.

Though, 99 did also have The Talented Mister Ripley, which basically was my Catcher in the Rye when I was younger.

This is a sneaky way to get people to reveal their ages.

It's obviously 1982 though.

Blade Runner. ET. Conan the Barbarian. TRON. The Dark Crystal.
Still 1994.

Slightly younger generation will go with 1999(my second place pick) and the slightly older crowd will go with something like 1982 (my third place [Khorum left off The Thing, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, 48 Hours, Star Trek II, Poltergeist, First Blood, The Last Unicorn]) or 1977.

Pretentious film school kids will say 1939 to look cool.
1982 also had The Secret of Nimh, Diner, Ghandi, Airplane 2, Tootsie, Pink Floyd - The Wall, and others. 94 and 99 both great years though.

If we're going to include the 80's then there is a really good argument for 1984.

Ghostbusters
Beverly Hills Cop
Terminator
Nightmare on Elm Street
Gremlins
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Police Academy
Revenge of the Nerds
Dune

More here.

Good thread, but all it's really doing is putting in crystal clear perspective just how fucking SHIT the movie industry has become.

The answer, of course, in 99'
