Have not watched it yet but the Telegraph review makes it seem worth checking out


"With the footage going viral, The Chair delicately probes the topic of cancel culture. It is clear that Dobson is not a fascist and that his gesture was misunderstood. That said, a Hitler salute is a Hitler salute, and the series doesn’t forgive his glibness. He doesn’t deserve to have his life ruined – or to be replaced by David Duchovny (eager to resume a fledgling academic career disrupted by Hollywood stardom).

But it’s also grating to see the justified outrage of students over a Nazi salute shrugged off by Dobson, a flippant Gen-Xer who thinks he’s still down with the kids because he still listens to the Pixies. Having lived all his life without any serious consequences, chickens are coming home to roost.

These dilemmas are mined for the gentlest of giggles, in what is a gentle show all round. It’s breezy, funny and Oh and Duplass throw up sparks off each other. Like a day idling around campus when you should be going to lectures, The Chair won’t change your life. But it kills the time very pleasantly."
