Cast is pretty solid, I would think Woodrow Wilsons wife would be way more compelling than any of those ladies but the target audience might not give a shit about an ugly first lady

Pretty much - Woodrow Wilson's wife could in some regards be considered the first female president, since it has been strongly suspected she was running things in Woodrow's stead after he suffered a massive stroke.
