Plot: 1930s Korea, in the period of Japanese occupation, a new girl (Sookee) is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress (Hideko) who lives a secluded life on a large countryside estate with her domineering Uncle (Kouzuki). But the maid has a secret. She is a pickpocket recruited by a swindler posing as a Japanese Count to help him seduce the Lady to elope with him, rob her of her fortune, and lock her up in a madhouse. The plan seems to proceed according to plan until Sookee and Hideko discover some unexpected emotions.

I stumbled on this on Amazon and it was tremendously good. The director did Oldboy so that got me curious enough to try it.

It is kind of a crime / heist / swindle thing mixed with a love story. Very beautiful. It is from last year I guess, so I'm surprised there isn't already a thread for it.

This is indeed a pretty damn good movie. It kinda advertises itself as a semi-erotic movie, but it's not very erotic. A friend told me it was very funny, but it's not really a comedy. It's more of a very well written thriller... or maybe it's a movie rich enough to allow everyone to find in it the movie they want to see!
