Have not come across a post here about this. Stumbled across a podcast few nights ago .

TLDR.
Pre Alpha
8 man groups. Raids while not set in stone up to 32 players.
Outside of staying in a city, or crafting not a lot of solo content.
No intended PVP.
Skill based leveling/adventuring system.
Limited instancing. Along the lines of how EQ2 handled it.

Podcast with SOL Dev.

TW Anderson, the guy from pantheon that shot all those videos and then became a mod is behind it.

Man, I just don't know. Niche MMO's don't tend to do well. As much as I LOVE this idea and as much as I would play the game. I guarantee not many people like the idea of grouping and actually earning gear and shit. Just makes me sad to even think about the direction MMO's have gone. Now, if the game is done in such a way that the grind isn't awful and extremely rewarding. Then maybe... it could surprise a few people. Only time will tell.

They are going about it not being concerned about those things. I wish them luck. I talked to TW about it when they first announced. Interesting ideas, i posted something similar on the old pantheon boards and Brad followed up. Was a possible expansion idea. Just a vast untamed wild area. Anyway...I prefer classes but would give it a look. Who knows what people will flock to once it's released.

That guy is perhaps the biggest blowhard I've ever come across. His association with any given project makes me want to stay away.
Well we definitely had our issues as well. I still wish them luck. We need more PVE focused games.

Not to shit on anyone's dream but I remember when they were justifying using the Unity engine, one their guys used AC: Unity as a reference to how good it can look. Pretty much laughed and scratched this one off.

I don't think these are the guys we should be expecting to bring back the PVE MMO genre, lol.

Saw them mention early access. These guys are trying to sell early access of what exactly? I've yet to see anything resembling gameplay.

Yeah, not trying to call you out or anything. Just saying this project looks like some fake pipe dream.

I much prefer a good PvP game but there is nothing wrong with a PvE only assuming its done correctly. Last part being the most important.

20 Years later we're finally entering the age of the NewMUDs. The days where there are enough tools and middleware where almost any development team of any size can attempt to make a game. Back in the 90s you could go to Mudconnector.com and find thousands of MUDs to telnet in to. Find the big ones or the niche ones, and have fun.

I actually am looking forward to all these new MMOs coming out, shitty or otherwise. One might get lucky and be fun to play, or at least tickle my individual pickle.

Kind of exciting.

In a few years, you'll be able to download some kind of software and host an MMO on your computer. All you have to do is build it and use some pre-made asset packs (Unity store has these now, but it's growing faster and faster).

These guys seem serious and they have some good ideas. Supposedly will be playable within a couple months for early access backers. I used to talk to the dev Tim during Pantheon Kickstarter days. He's driven. I bet their game beats Pantheon out the door!

So is this thing actually real? I thought it was just a group of random EQ fans trying to make an MMO.

Alpha started today. No NDA. Today's test was really about login testing more than anything. That said, I ran around the game world for fun. Here's some screenshots and a video if interested. I had thought I recorded a video running around with other players but NOPE! The video is just exploring. Obviously bugs at this point in development. Game is approx. 2 years from launch.

Game looks alright, but what's with these horrible names for MMO's? The Saga of Lucimia sounds like a bad late night Cinemax porn.
