Get ready for the next trilogy - The Second Apocalypse. I'm going to have to reread the ending a few times...I think Kellhus succeeded in his salty end. I think that he was a decapitant and stepped outside time...I really need to reread it. I finished it like 5 minutes ago. I was anxious and ordered it from amazon.uk to avoid the wait in North America

What an ending...that was about as much pure action as I've ever seen packed into one book. I hope Kellhus did manage to transfer to the other decapitant otherwise what a bitch way for him to go out. Malowebi glimpsed something in the other decapitant's head (can't remember who's head it actually is) before Kellhus was possessed by the four horned god, but then the appearance of Kelmomas seemed to snap him back into his body before he was salted so who knows. Is it confirmed he will write another trilogy dealing with The Second Apocalypse?

Maybe I'm just getting old and stupid but I had a pretty hard time following this book. I still enjoyed it, but I felt like it was pretty hard to follow exactly what was going on with all the different characters.

I loved this series up until this book. Hundreds of pages of necrophilia, rape, cannibalism, and just general people monsters, while the conclusion was wrapped up in about five pages.

I will have to hear absolutely glowing praise about the next set of books before I even bother with them.

I also loved this series, until this book. I would suggest anyone to read this series up until this book and then just stop.

All this buildup over multiple books, then an insanely rushed final conclusion where characters die seemingly out of nowhere all rushed in the end. All the big deaths felt flat, made me think "wait, seriously, did that really just happen? No way, it couldn't have ended that lamely? Oh it did".

Let me get this straight...
The Darkness That Comes Before, The Warrior Prophet and The Thousandfold Thought were repacked into a single book, The Judging Eye (The Aspect-Emperor #1) ?
And then the other The Aspect-Emperor #2, 3, 4 follow ?
Or is the first series separate and The Judging Eye is a different book ?

It is all part of the same series 'The Second Apocalypse'.

First three books are a series: 'The Prince of Nothing'
The Darkness That Comes Before
The Warrior-Prophet
The Thousandfold Thought

The next four books are a series, 'The Aspect Emperor' detailing what happens after the first trilogy.
The Judging Eye
The White-luck Warrior
The Great Ordeal
The Unholy Consult

The first three books are amazing, I cannot give them enough praise. The quality begins to drift after that. There is a time skip, numerous new characters are introduced - many of them pointless - and so many new threads are woven into the tapestry that it is barely recognizable up close. The last book is terrible. It was painful to work through - and not just because it is nearly half torture porn inflicted on the characters, but because it ends on a massive cliffhanger. There is NO closure to the story and the book is actually around 150 Pages SHORTER than it would seem, as the last 1/4th of it is all glossary and related tat.

There will 'likely' be a third series, to finish it all, but it is a long way out.

Actually, I stooped in the middle of The Warrior Prophet book, just never enough time to read like I used to.
Or maybe the sadness from the chapters that have Achamian as the protagonist got to me, I dont know why, but I felt really sad when I was reading those.

Achamian has some really brutal chapters, particularly as the series goes on. Poor dude can never catch a break.
