Not sure if this has been posted. The search feature for these forums is fucked and has been for quite some time.

Have only seen the first 2 episodes. Creepy, nothing over the top, unless you have arachnophobia then episode 2 will fuck you up. Episode one isn't an Urban legend though. Just saying.

Good so far, will report back when I get to the rest of the season.

I just don't understand where Eli Roth is always described as a master of Horror. I mean yeah he's had a few entertaining movies but nothing was ever monumental within the genre.

His bed movie was probably cabin fever just because it was so over the top absurd, and I remember seeing it with my buddies back in college and us just laughing our asses off.

Horrific it was not though. Has he actually done anything legitimately scary or is he just a Jewish producer at this point for other crap?

John Carpenter or Clive Barker he ain't.

In my opinion the only reason he's considered a "Master of Horror" is because the horror pool is very shallow and he's an easy pick. The true Masters of horror are either dead or just about.

I could maybe see that but they are up and coming directors that are really making their mark, like Ari Aster, Mike Flanagan, and the dude who did The VVitch, name is escaping me.

They've all made much better films than stupid Eli Roth. Hell, Os Perkins is becoming one, too, and when I say that I'm talking about the new generation of Horror filmmakers that actually have a decent portfolio so far, even if they're not massive large.

That's the stuff I can remember off the top of my head, but I know there's others out there.

Point being I think is Eli Roth is a hack and somehow weaseled his way into Hollywood, probably because he sniffed out the proper opportunities.

And give it time though, and those dudes will hopefully build up a decent body of work.

I'm outside even including foreign film people like Xavier Gens. He's made some pretty horrific stuff that's top notch, or even the British guys who did 28 days later, etc. I know I could go look all this stuff up but you know the the guys I'm talking about, just having a senior moment.

Right. I agree with you. He just somehow got grouped in with the big guys. Stephen King, Clive Barker, Wes Craven, etc. I think he got lucky with shit like the Grindhouse movies he had a hand in and Hostel. Hostel I think is the one that "put him on the map." He's had hit and misses since. For example... Green Inferno. Tried to pay homage to Cannibal Holocaust and it just seemed....forced. Seemed like it pushed more of an activist agenda than a cannibalisistic tribe film.

Finished the season. The first two episodes are the only good ones. Every episode after just got worse and worse as far as acting and dialogue goes.

Watch the first 2 episodes and you can easily ignore the rest. They don't have anything to do with each other so you're not missing out.
