Doubt it. They have to do something with the GP102's that can't bin at full capacity.

So EVGA's 1060 is 240 for a bit on special, single fan cooler though. Looks like they will come in between 250-280 overall. 480's are between 240-260?

Any reason to not get a 1060? It kicks the 480's ass in DX11, but I'm not sure that matters since both cards are monsters on current gen anyway. The 480 has a bit of an edge on Vulcan and supposedly it will on DX12, but from all the benches I've seen on DX12 games, the 1060 is always very very slightly ahead.

Give Nividia's more stable drivers and better software suites, is there a reason to go 480 over 1060?

The story of AMDs life is "...just a couple more driver updates and directX optimization and our performance should pull ahead of Nvidia" Nevermind the fact that Nvidia is updating and advancing as well. That AMD promise of "more upside" just never quite seems to materialize.

Go with the 1060. Go with what is better now, not what is promised to *maybe* be better at some undefined point in the future.

What I am examining looks like the 1060 and RX 480 is a toss up, with 480 being better on dx12 games SLIGHTLY, like 6 fps on DOOM. However, suprisingly 1060 Beating 480 on Tomb Raider sequel. Especially since the first Tomb Raider was really optimized for AMD cards.

I always go with Nvidia

Also I'd just buy a card. You can perpetually wait for the next best thing

It won't let me post Amazon links without breaking them, and they had 14 EVGA 1080 FTWs in stock.
