This game is either a "Hey I'm doing really well" or "this is my nightmare I can't escape except literally hitting escape". I'm level 35 I think and I've won maybe 2-3 games and lost 5-7. The losing games were just brutal.

For WHATEVER fucking reason, at the beginning of TWO games on TWO DIFFERENT SERVERS, both enemy teams pushed all the way across the CZ before towers even unlocked to contest my teams tower. So we just had to fight off people and fail to build a FoB for 45 minutes straight while the other teams just took turns sucking the fucking hotzone back and forth. It was awful. It was like targeted and I wasn't on a streamer server or anything. Just usually Blue Team get fukt for no reason.

Also hit the point at the end of last night where mortars were ruining the game. Entire team stuck at church (not hot zone, no fob there) because of some battle with 15 minutes of rezzing and a team has SIX, yes SIX, mortars just pounding it. Six sequential mortar hits one after another nonstop. It's absolutely fucking dogshit.

They made really good balance changes before this launch, but we'll see how they move from here. Once everyone is T3+ gear it's going to be a very different, very vehicle based game. If you didn't know you can hit switches in the Firing Range to armor the dummies. Try 5.56 against level 3 body armor and check how many bullets it takes. It's rough. AP rounds are better, but by about 1 bullet difference (7 to 6). And that's only 3 armor, not level 4 which does exist.
Almost wonder if we were in any same games, couldnt tell the story on my phone as easy.

But kinda same thing happened one game. Green rushed our tower, put up a fob and a couple doors at the top of the ladder and top level. We had 10 guys aiming about aimlessly. I dropped off supplies and ended up driving back to base to reload, grabbed 1 c4. All the way back. No one had handled it still so with the free gun I climbed to the top door, hucked it over, blew door and guy up, and mowed down the 2nd green, hacked the fob, and went all the way back to the base to load my supplies no one else had.....

Tonight I want to try solo mortar pit fob in some out of the way place since the range is so good. The AA gun fob I think is less ideal since it's so easy to find via smoke trail etc. Only has one target, range feels like only 4-500 meters etc etc. For AA trolling, I think I'll get the Igla and a ural. Probably pricier but I think much safer hopping around. Got RPG but seems like trying to ambush trucks may not be worth the drive time trying to get to their base roads and guessing which one theyd use.

I did want to try stuffing supply boxes w/ rpg's and selling those for profit. Made a decent return just mixing some bandages/grenades in w/ the build supplies on crates b4 I unlocked ural.

That faggot obviously never played PlanetSide.

Nothing beats jumping on top of an enemy AMS right outside your base wall and using a lasher to destroy people trying to buy their equipment.

The amount of shenanigans you could get up to in that game were monumental.

Vanu Sovereignty, represent!

Game is really fun when you have balanced teams, if you don't it's a very bad time. If anything kills the game, it'll be that.

That's how 1v1v1 always plays out. DAoC and Planetside were no different. Some nights were absolute insane fun and other nights were a fucking shitfest.

I played Midgard and Vanu Sovereignty. You were always outgunned and outnumbered, but it didn't mean you couldn't have fun. It was just a more target rich environment. Whether it was a group of skalds or a couple of mag-riders, you could go out and do some damage.

Ya, I hate autobalance but somethings gotta happen when sometimes it will be 30v30v20. I had one, albeit on a private server that was 30-20-0....

Lmao. Imagine an FPS in 2026 without an auto balance feature. Shit like that is exactly why this genre sucks dick now. I remember having to kill the shit out of my buddies or them out of me all the time back in the heyday of FPS, due to auto balance swapping us.

Official servers may do it, not sure if it was a private server setting to not force it, I've certainly never seen an official server offbalanced by more than a few that I've noticed.

On one hand understanding why SBMM is a thing and the other hand the way things use to be.

I started focusing less on "winning" the game and making plays that are "win." Lose the war, but not the battle and it's been a great deal of fun.. and even some pretty crazy comebacks.

I join blue every so often; wins here and there.. but the reason I see blue lose a lot of the time, often is the same reason I see any other team lose; too many cooks.. Friend had a theory is that the reason blue is perpetually bad is that through the sorta anti-blue media campaign, its all the people with slow pcs connecting late getting put on one team.

but yeah, when the game is 53/58/65 is when its at its best.

I remember the Crown was the spot like almost every night. Back and forth for hours and sometimes even longer and we could not take the point.

You know the messed up thing is we're all old at this point or middle-aged but we have visited memories of us being young and playing these games with our buddies and just having a wonderful time. And the fucked up thing is I don't younger kids will never get that same sort of video game experience that we were all lucky enough to have if you know what I mean.

I mean what is their thing, fortnite?

None of these kids will remember the brutal days of Ultima Online, or Counter-Strike beta, PlanetSide, EQ, or World of Warcraft prior to the first dumb expansion. All of us really were in our prime during the Golden age of video games, specifically anything that was online with lots of other people.

There's a weird balance between having a good FoB Tower and being able to use it to control the air/mortar and anti-mortar, and just fucking going CoD mode in the hot zone with 30 guys.

The second map has way more cover so it's pretty much just load up infantry and march the HZ, because Heli's Mortars aren't as big an issue. Maybe build a decent tower fob if you want to drill or just to mortar their drill.

The first map has so much wide open area that Talon rockets are MANDATORY to control the onslaught of helicucks. And then to keep them up you need mortars to mortar THEIR mortars. Then you need people to maintain the mortars/AA's which THEN requires a decent amount of manpower to build and defend the FoB. Sniping on top of towers is already out of favor has there's not great line of sight a lot of the time.

The problem with FoB is just defense. They're going to shoot you through cracks, from electrical towers, drop parachuters up top, just snipe from 400m away from the woods, and if you don't have the APC there or a decent amount of people (5-10) you'll either get over run or just lose to attrition from mortars and artillery.

I've been just saying "fuck it" to helping FoBs after the intitial start because it ends up being me in a full kit building and like 3 naked guys with hammers who insta die to some bushwookie bitch with a Scout rifle. I'm running 3 helmets/armor and I literally lost both to just eating bullets tonight defending a fob while building. Literally plinked probably 8 Scout headshots in one life until my helmet just disappeared. Then I had to deal with meal team six MP9 guys eating away at my 3 armor until IT was also gone. Basically it was fine if I was alive, but the second I die if the builder bobs didn't get me up the whole thing was lost. They were just completely inneffective in combat.

End of the day unless a bunch of heli cuckery is happening (an attack heli costs 1/2 my infantry kit, btw) you just gear up and march hot zone. Drills can change thing, but if no one is drilling just fucking boots on the ground will win the game 90% of the time.
